BUDGET/FINANCE COMMITTEE
MAY 12, 1997 6:30 P.M.

The Committee reviewed the following 1997-98 preliminary Budgets:
Library
Fire Department
Building/Fire Inspector
Firemen's Relief - The Fire Dept. has requested 14
mills this year. This is an increase of 2 mills.
Due to 1-105, there will have to be a decrease
somewhere else, so that the City does not exceed 90
mills, which was the assessment in 1986. (This does
not include the 10 mills for the storm sewer G.O.
Bond issue, which is excluded under 1-105)
Discussion regarding transferring Fire District contract revenue to
the Firemen's Relief Association for the pension fund. Don will
check with the league office if this can be done.
The Fire Department also requested that $25,000 from contract
revenue be transferred to the Fire Department Capital Projects
Fund. This is an increase from the $15,000 that has been
transferred annually the past several years.
Airport Authority - they will give a construction progress report
to the City Council sometime in the near future.
