October 1.7, 1944
The Gity Council of the Gity caf Laure].rnet in regular session
in the Council Chamb~r.~ and :~h=the,~,~b!~e~ee of the Mayor was
called to order by Chairman of the Council, Henr~r E, Gomer at
7:30 O ~ c to c k M~~ t:; btu?, ~p~t ~i~er 17, 1944.
Upon roll call the following ,alderman answered present:
Smith Wieber
Wilson Parker
Gomer b2cGracken

The minutes of the last regular meeting v~ere read and approved.
The report of the Laurel milk samples for September 9th ar~d Oct-
ober xOth were presented and read. It was moved by Feuerbacher
and seconded by Parker the report be approved. The motion carr3.ed.
letter from 14~r. R.H, Sterrett, President of the Laurel Commercial
Clab, stating the Board of Directors had voted to appropiate
the sum of Five-hundred dollars (~5~a.~~} towards the purchase of the Laurel Cemetery, eras presented and read. It was moved b9 parker
and seconded by Feuerbacher the letter be placed on file. The
motion carried,
~9 letter from dir. G.E. Settergren and Mr. C.L. Morris offering to
sell the Laurel Cemeter~r to the City of Laurel, for the sum off' Twenty Five .hundred dollars (~25~0.00) 3.n cash , with the agreement
in consideration of'~Ghe sale, to make a donation of Two Hundred
Fifty dollars (~250.~~) each, to the City of Laurel to be used in
~'he purchase of the Cemetery. It was moved by Parker and aecanded
by Feuerbacher the letters be filed. The motion carried.

regarding license for Mrs. Mooneg were read ~o~ether ~ri~h the
report a license was issued to Nirs. looney for the Fourth Quarter.
The letters wets filed.
communication from the Fontana &~unic3.pa1 League eras presented
and read ar~d the City Clerk was 3.nstructed to Pile same.
Policies for the Fire Truck and Equipment vuere presented and it
vase moved by V~ilson and seconded by Parker they be referred to the
~ sire Committee for investiga~3.on and approval, The motion carried.
The question of the next regular Council mettin~ night which would be on election day November 7th was brou~h.t before the Cou-
nci1. It was moved by McCracken and seconded by~ Parker the Next
regular meeting be held on V~ednesday evening November 8th.

The report of the delinquent licenses was read and a motion was
made by Parker and seconded by Wiebe~ theg~ be referred to the
City ~.ttorney for collection. ~.'he mat3.on carried.
~i letter from the Street ar~d ,Alley Committee recommending the
purchaae of sufficient hots to increase the capacity of tre
drainage syatex~ an North City Limits of the City of Laurel was
presented and read. It was moved by ~iilson and seear~ded by
Feuerbacher permission be given the .Street and ,alley Corrmlittee
to purchase the required lots. The mfltion carried,
The question of providing .eat far the Fire truck and the Police
car was brought before the Council. It w~,s moved by Parker and
seconded bg McCracken the parchase of the heater be referred to
the purchasing Comm3.ttee. The motion carried.
Nr. J.S. Brohaugh, v~ater Commissioner, reque~rted permissiar~ to obtain labor grad equipment tp in~tal.1 pipe and do other work at
the river intake. A motion way made by Feuerbacher end seconded
by iNieber the permission be gra~ated. The motion carried.
