The City Council of the City of Laurel mct in regular s~saion in the
Council Chamber and was. called to ord~;r by Iviayor Thomson at "7:30 oTclock Y. M.
I~ot~meb~r 1~th, 1946.
Upon r~~.l ca11 the-following aldermen answered present:

The minutes of the last meeting were. read, and it was moved by
Parker and seconded by Feuerbachc~r the minutes be approved as read. Thy motion
carried.
Nr. Charles Sande appeared before the ~ogtncil, repr-~senting the Laurel construction Company who would 1ik~ to purchase the 30 City lots on 6th
avenue.
It was moved by ~~o1d arzd seconded by Filson that the matter of
clearing the titles on the lots, be refarr~d to the Finance Committ~c to bring
back a report at this next meting. `l~he motion carried.
fir, Fob Freund, appeared before the Couneil., regarding the fine he
had to pay for manning over a f ire hose being used by the dater ;department for
flushing out sewers ~n the East end of town. It was moved by ~'a~ker and seeond~d
by F~uerbach~r Mr. Freund be given a refund of X20 on the f'3.ne. 2'he motion carried
~n application by Manley K. Gerk~, for position as polieaman, together with a letter of ~eacomm~ndation from the Chief of Police of Holdre~;e, Nebraska,
was preseflted and read. It was moved by Parlor and seconded by Wilson, ~?ir.
Gerke b~ temporarily app+~intc~d to a position on the Police force. ~'rle motion
carried.
Aga application by George Schreiner, f'or a position as policeman way pr~s~nted and read. It was movca by Filson and seconded by smith the application
be placed on file for future ref~renc~. ~'he motion carried.
The ~e~,~th ~fficcr t s report ~'or the month of November waa presented and
read. It was moved by fold and seeond~d by Wilson the report be approved. The
mot ion carried.
letter from the V3ichita chamber of Cormerce, regarding Mr. Carey, who
made inquiries regardin mortuaries, was pr~9ented and read. It was moved by
Parker and sccond~d by ~euerbacher the letter be referred to the cemetery Board.
Thy rrzotion carried.
An application by Lillian Fierhellcr, to remodel a house at 306 2nd
eve., to raise and extend roof to a11ow far stairway, ~t an approximate cost of
y~'200 ~uas pr~es~nt~d ar~d read. It was moved by Wo1d and seconded bg ~~il~on the
permit b~ granted. 't'he ~r~otion carried.
Telegrams arzd 1et~ers to and from ~h~ National Housing ,~,,~ency in regard
to securing; pipe, ac~.dressed to the City Engitaeer, were pr~scnt~d and read. St
was moved by v~o1.d and seconded by Feu~rbacher the City ~n~;in~er ~ s action its the
matter be approved. ~~'h~ m.otion carried.
The City ~1erk~s report for the month of October was prescnt~d and read.
It was moved by ~~old and seconded by Filson the report be approved a9 read. The
motion carried.
The l~inu~es of the Legislative meeting of the I~Zontana Municipal Leauge
wcre presented and read. Zt was moved by Parker and seconded by Feuerbach~r the
minutes be placed on file. `l'he motion carried.
the Mayor appointed a Committee of Filson, Rodgers and t~~iebcr, to study
mans of regulating trai'fic b5r means of traffic 1i~hts, to report back at the
next meeting.
It vuas r~noved by Parker and seconded by ~1o1d the City Engineer have
authority to advertise for bids on purchase of carload of pipe. The motion carried
Thy Mayor reported that the High School had asked for two deputies
to be on duty Saturday November 23rd, from 9 P. l~. ti11 2 ,p~.. M.
It was moved by Parlor and ~econdcd by reuPrbacher that the charge.

charged when meet ins Sre held. in the kitchen portion of the Building, which
would. not require so much Pue1 to be consumEd: X5.00 to be charged when meeting

dances. The motion carried.
