The pity council of the City of Laurel met in r~~ular session in the Council

16th, 1946.

can~truct ion and operation of a gas distributing plant or sgstem in the Cit~r of Laure 1, as now or hereafter constituted, Ye7.lawstone G ount~, ~iontar~a, ~'or ~
term of thirty-two (32} years, and fixing ar~d prescribing the conditions- ar~d
terms hereof, was presented and read. he Mayor ~.ppointed a committee eon~isting
of Filson, H Odgers, and Parker, with Air. Wilsaon as chairman, to study the
Ordinance and report back at the next counc~.l meeting.
fir. George H. Shearer appeared befflre the Council preser~tin~ a petition signed by~ ll6 persons protesting the 1o cation of the Laurel Saddle ~%lub riding academy
and stable, within the City Limits. Section No. 578 of the original Ordi~aances
was read by the City G1erk. ~ corrnnittee ~ra~ formed of A'. E. V~ieber and Ira D.
~a~gers, to contact the parties of the Laurel paddle flub, inform them of the
petition, and repor~G back at the next meeting of the council.
The I~zayor announced that phis being the t im.e set to receive bids and to se1L bonds of the City off' Laurel. in the amount of Twent~r-five Thousand collars
in accordance with the action taken by the Council at its,~eeting held June 4, 1946.
and as provided for by' Resolution ado. 634, of the pity of Laurel., and pursuant
to the "Notice of Sals of Laurel, Montana, Swimming Poo 1. Bonds, 25,~~0.00~'
author3.~ed as the said meeting; and v~hich said notice vas publish ed in the Laurel
Outlook, a newspaper of general circulation pulbished at Laurel, Yellowstone Count, Montana, on June 5, 1.946, Jane I2, 1946, June 19, 1946, June 26, 3.946 and 3uly
3, 194&.
Upon the request of the Mayor, the Clerk read all of the proceedings had a~
aZl previous meetins r elative to the issue and sale of the said bonds, and the
Notice of Sale of Laurel, Montana, swimming Pool Bflnds "and the affidavit of

the Clerk was then asked to read all proposals that had been received for the

These bonds are issued by the City of Laurel under the authority of, and
in full. compliance with the provisions of chapter 399 of the Revised Codes
of n~ontana, 1935, and Laws suppl~mentar~r ~her~to or amendatory thereof, and
a resolution duly and rc~u],ar~.y adopted by the ~ity Gounci~.; and are i~susd
in order to obtain funds for the prupo~s of procuring, constructing, ~stablishin~, maintaining and operating a svuimming pool within the corporate
limits of paid City, thus improving the recreational fac 3litic9 of said City.

required to hap~~r~, exist and be psrPormed precedent to, and in the issuance of,
this bond have happened, exist and have been performed in due time, forte and
manner as required by the laws and the constitu~on of the State of Montana.

the Northern Pacific Go. right of waY of the fed Lodge Branch, at the same price
as the 6th avenue Seer. The City ~1erk was authorized to advertise for bids,
It was moved bar Parker and seconded by Filson that the laying of 405 feet of 8ir~ch
vitrified sewer pipe and sixty six feet of steel or cast iron pipe under the rail=
road tracks together with the complete installation oP such other accessories as
necessary for the proper operation of the said improvements in Block 29 E.

absent from work, for the days he is attending the convention. ~'he motion carried.

T;~e City Engineer reported that the sewer on Fifth ,Avenue had 'aeen cleared ou'~
on June 29~h.
It was moved by Gamer and seconded by Smith that the eater C%ommi~tee be
authorized to aet on the Farmers Union Co-op Refinery request fora 6"' tap on the
14~ wader main, for emergency use. mhe motion carried.
