Council chamber ar~d was called to order by Mayor Thomson at ~r30 o+clock P. M.

The minutes of the ]ast meeting were read. Tt was moved by reuerbacher and
seconded by Rodgers the minutes be approved. The notion carried.
Guy ''tormont appeared before the Council in regard tc purchasing land owned by
the pity.
It was moved b~ Parker and seconded by nodgers the pity Clerk advertise for
bids on a piece of land 9f~~130' lying west of 6th ~venus extended South, o~ tr_e

Uutlook. .One bid was received from the Y~1.lowstane ~3ank, in the amount of ~P1900
with interest at 6 0. It was moved by -~V'~3:~c-ands°;~eao~tded by Parr r the bid be
accepted. 1'he motion carried.
delegation from the Commercial Club, headed by J. . Baldwin of the
,Airport Comm3.t~ee, appeared before the council. in regard to an airport for the
City. He sated that it was the intention of the Commercial ~1ub to raise the
necessary fuzads for- such ~ projuect and de~i~Ped that (1) ~-hey have the thy.

(2) the Mayor and Council would appoint a ~nem~er from their body to head the airport Committee. Iy:e also stated that if' the City would accept the. a3.rport~
which would-cost approximately ~60,D00, the C~l~ would assist with 25~ of the
necessary funds.
It was moved bar ~`reebury and seconded bg Rodgers that the City accept the
land offered, which is south of the railroad tracks, and east of the Refinery,
a piece of land comp»ising 320 acres, and that the b~ror appoint amember for the committee in two weeks. jhe motion carr3_ed.
R. H. Sterrett, Fire Chiefs appeared before the Council with a report on
the fire on Janiper Ave, an the 1J.th of June, 1947.

were not used where taps v~sre made on main line .
handles of all gas appliances in apartment were 3n off position ~rhen
inspected immediately after fire. Occupants of apartment did not smoke. ~1aim.~sd
zoo comubstable~ such as cleaning fluids or ~~soline were stored in building,. no
evidence of such found.
impartment has two doors, one of which was locked, one unlocked. Mother
of child lost, was across street a~ time of fire.
department recommends rigid building, stogie venting &nd electrical
inspection of all construction, particularly if it is to be used for housing or public gatherings.
