The City Council of the ~itg~ of Laurel met in a reguxarly adjourned
session in the Council chambers and was ca~lcd to' order bar l~ayo~ Thomsen at q~«3~ o?c~.ack P. M. Tuesdag March 11th, 1947,

Mr. Levine Her~ett appeared before the Council r e~arding permission to
move a school building to the. rear of the building orb Lot 6, Block 1, fast
Laurel Subdivision. It was moved bar Rodgers sand seconded by ~I eber the matter
be t~xbled until next regular meeting of Gauncil, in order for Co~anciZ men
to examine such building. 't'he motion carried.
~n application by the Laurel Saddle Club, to tap ~a~er fain on 6th S'~reet
in front of 131ock ~i, Nutting Sub., and who s3.gned aM agreemtn to participate
in. a Special. Improvement l~istriet, when and if such i~ crewed, was 'presented
and read. I~ was moved by Rc~d~;ers and seconded by t~ie~'~er permission be granted on such cotad3.tions. The motion carried.

~n application for a permit by~ G. Peterson to build house 26x44 and
garage 4x18, 0~6 frame cons~rt~et on on concrete foundation, with concrete' side-
waZk, on Lots 16 & 17, Bloch 5, Laurel H~3.ghts Sub., at an approximate ca9t of 4500 was presented. zt ~a~ mov~a by Feuerbacher and seconded by Rodgers the.

The C3.ty Attorney ,gave report on the matter oP cost of Sever for Christ
Gjefle, and was instructed to send written notice of action to be taken,
Correspont~.ence regarding cost of repairing street for T3. H, McCau~..ey ,was
read, and the pity ~,ttorneg was instructed to send written notice of aetiQn to
be taken.

Zhe City G1erk re ported to the Council Ghat a petition had been filed in her
office on N~rch 4, 1.947, bearing a sufficietat number of si~ner.s qualified to
sign the same, k~eing more than 20~ of the re~istereci electors whose names appear
aeon the last aornpleted assessment roll for state and county taxes as taxpayers
within the pity of Laurel, requesting the .City ~%ouncil to call a~a election to
vole upon the ues~ion of issuing and selling General. Swimming Pool fonds in the ~riount of 25,OOt7.~Q, for the ,purpose of procuring, constructing, establishin
. maintaining and operating a swimming pool, 3.n the City of Laurel, and placed
said petition befpre the ~3.t;~ Council together witY~ her certificate attached
thereto, this being. the first meeting held after she' had attached said cer~-
ifacte theretfl. The Cit~r Counc3.1. thereupon examined such petition and found the
same 3n proper form, and that ~.t bears the r equisite number of signatures of qualified petitioners and in all respects sufficient. ,After discuss3;on the
follovuing Re~olutian No, 647, and entitled ~A Ftesolutiota providing for the
calling and holding of a Special :election for the .purpose of submitting ~o the
qual3.f ed elee~org of the ~it:~ of Laurel, r~ontana. mho are taxpayers upon
property within said Cit~r, and whaae names appear' on the 1a~t completed asses-
- 'm~n~ roll for state and county taxes, the question of whether the indebtedness
of the said City of Laurel, 1~Sontana, sha11 ire increased by the issuance ar~d
sale of bonds of sa3~d City in the amount of Twenty-five 'thousand dollars for the
purpose of procur3.ng, constr~zcting, establishing, maintaining grad operating a sw3mmin~ pool in the ~'ity of Laurel, and }~rov3.ding the full amount required to
be expended for such purpose, providing the amount of the loan to be madE for Luc
' purpose, pr'r~vid ng tyre errr~ o~,=er which the bonds evidencing such indebtedness
will extend and the maximum rake of interest to be paid on said bonds, and
providing the manner of giving not ice of s iad special E 1ec t ion, the manner of
hold~.ng such Special `Election, and the details thereof, this resolution express3.ng .the er~er~ency for its passage and declaring it an emergency measure an
effective immediately a~'ter its final passage and adoption by the City council
and approval by the Mayor," was proposed by Sieber grad read in full. Thereupon,
it was moved by Smith. and seconded by Parl~er that said resolution be passed and
adopted, with the following voting dye : Feuerbacher, t~'ieber, ~'arker, Rodgers,
~to1d, ~znith. Hayes, None. ~Tilso~d. Gorner v~ere absent.: The Mayor thereupon declared said Resolution carded°and the Mayor an:d City Clerk thereupon signed
the said resolution in approval thereof.
It was moved by Rodgers .and seconded by 1'ieber tYtat the following named

It was moved b~ Parker and seconded by Rodgers that section 121 of ~~he Original ordinances off' the Catty of Laurel be repealed and a new ordinance
paying judges and clerks serving on election boards at the rate of 65¢~ per
hour be drawn up. The moticn carried.
It was moved and seconded we da now adjourn. The motion carried.
