The Gity council of the ~'ity of Laurel, met in regul~:r session in the Council
chamber and vas called to order by Nayor ~lhomaon at 8;00 o~clock P. M. Tuesday
DecemUer 7th, 1948.
Upon roll call the folX~win~ aldermen answered present;

The minutes of the last meeting were read. It was -moved by ~'euerbacher and
seconded by rreebury, the minutes be approved, `t'he motion carried.
I~r. Charles ~eor~e appeased before the Council and introduced Nr. Jae ~~arrison,
in regard t o putting a "Premium Game ~r into operat ian in S lick t s Ind;, It was moved
by parl~er .and seconded by h~reebury thtat tre Mayor appoint a committee to investigate,
and draw up an ordinance for the next council meeting. The R~ayor appointed smith,
P~:rker and fold, fir the investigating cammi~Gtee. The motion carried.
Mr. 4~alter Hoff'rrman appeared before the council in regard to garbage tax at Ou.~ Saviours Lutkzern ~k~urch. He stated that although the church was situated in
the garbage No. 1 District, it was not nece~gary to pick up g~rbnge any oftener than
in th.e residential district, also t hat it was a hardship f'or such ran organization to
make such payments. It was moved by fold ~r..d seconded by Parker that a refund of
the difference in rates betwest~ Garbage Itio. 1 and rnrbage I~'o. 2, be liven the Church,
and that i~ the future, the rarba~e be asseas~ed in Garbage No. 2 llistrict. the mot ion carried.
Mr. R. Sterrett, of the Laurel Fire ~'epartment, appeared before the
Gouncit in regard to a new siren, which would have e~iough volume to be heard by
the members in differEnt parts of the City , He stated that tie present siren was tao
small, and was a f~wo-directional ~~ren, which was .impossi~?le to be heard when the
'wind way blowing. Tt was referred to the `ire end ~'olice committees to report.
~fter~ consideration by tY~e members of the Fire and ~'olice Committee, it was
decided that a new siren should be ordered, with the firQ department reimbur.ing
tk~e pity f'or the cast of repairing tk~e :,.old siren.
It was moved bar ~~old and seconded by l eusrbacher th.e report of the Fire and
Police committee be approved. 2'kie motion carried.

by ~'arker"And seconded by smith the report be approved. mhe motion carried.

It was moved by ParkF r and seconded by Wold the bills be allcbwed and warrants
issued in the manner recoz~~mended by the Finance Committ~:e. The motion c~i~r.ied.
A Ica 3m in the amount of X133.80 from the industrial equipment Co, was not
al~.av~ed until an explanation was made in regard to second-rand clutch, whick~ is
no~~ ~n hand.
It was moved by Parker and secotaded by Uwold that the ~jreasurer notify the
Bond holders of 1938 tNater ponds thQt bonds will be called f'or p~ymelat on February
1st, 1949, the next interest payment date. 2'he motion carried.
