~ The ~ icy ~'ou~cil of the City of Laurel met iza regular session in the
ouncil chamber end eras called to order by Mayor Thomson at 7:30 otclock P., R~.
Tuesday November 16th, 1948.

R~r. Norris appeared before the ~ounc i1 in regard to s eelit~g the City a~a
adding machine. No actifln teas taken ~t this time.
~l'he Health C}fficer~ s report for the month of ~~ot~em~:~er was presented. It
was moved by Vfiold and seconded by Rodgers the report be approved. The mots on carried .
The Treasurers report .for the month of October was presented. It vuas
moved by reuerbacher end second el by ~~~o1d the report be approved, The motiota
carried.
The City ~%lerkfs report for the month oP C~etoY~er was presented. It was moved by dodgers ~.nr~ seconded by smith the r~por~ be approved. the motion
carried.
`t'his being the place end time specified and designated in tiesolution No.
646, delcarin~ it to be the intelatian of the City council to c reate Special
Irrproveznent Lighting I?istr3et No. 1~, f'or the council to Year end pa ss upon
protests filed with the City clerk a gainst the proposed work and a gainst the creation and extenet of such dist~ic~, the Gity ~~.erk informed the Go~.ancil that
no protests of any k~ nd had been filed vuith her.

Resolution Na. 648, a resolution creatinU Spacial Improvement ~}istrict No. 1~ of the City of Lau re X,, was presented end r ead. Tt was moored by ~~old and
seconded by ~reebury that keao~.ution No, 648 be passed and adopted. Upon roll
ca 11 all aldermen present voted 'aye" and said resolution tivas declared passed
and adopted. `~~he motion carried.

Ordinance Nom 395, being an ordinance providing for bre receiving of bids an
the letting of a contract for the construction of improvements in Special.
Improvement Lighting llistrict No. 1~, was presented a nd r ead. 2t was moved by
fold anc~ seconded by godgers the t the unanimous consent of the council be liven
to immediate passage of Ord3.natace No. 395. Motion carried on roll call as
follows: Ayes: Freeburg, ~o1d, Rodgers, Parker, Feuerbacher, `~'ubman, Smith.
Hayes; gone, thereupon the ~Iayordeclarec? said motion duly carried.

improvements 3.n Special Improvement Lighting district No. 1~, according tp
plans and specifications thereof on file and of record i.n the of~'ice of the pity
Clei~.k and City engineer of the pity of Laurel, I~onj.anQ. The bids for m~ter3a~.
shall be separate from the 'k~Lds for labor. Each bid to be acc anpanied by a
certified check for at leash ten (;10j per cent of t Yie amoutat of t he cour~tract,
payable to the City Treasurer, to be forefeited to the ~i~y of I~~ureX in case the successful binder fails to enter into a contract at his price bid. Bids
to be o erred by the pity Coutacil at a meeting thereof to be held on the 21st
d~~ of ~ecember, 1948 at the ~o~ancil Chamber in the ~'ity half. in the City of
Laurel, laid notice to be pu~li~k~ed ire the Laurel Outlook three successive
times, the last publication thereof to be more thata ten days before the day when bids wi11 be opened. On r oll c a 11 all aldermen present voted eye and said
motion c arried.
j~he Police c~mmitt~e agreed to a clothing allowance to special police
on a pro rata basis.

Tt was suggested that the ditch r ema in on the east side of county road, untd~l within one block of 1~ain street, then to cross to hest side of road. It
was moved by Fark~.~ and seconded by Freeburg that the Mayor and City ,~ttorne~r
have authority to draw up an easement with ~U. R. Davis for drain ditch on
West s3.de of bounty road on crest end of ~i~y limits. the motion carried.
It was moved and seconded we do now adjourn. The motion carried.
