Don distributed a copy of a letter from Carol Beam, Yellowstone
Community Health Plan, regarding their health insurance proposal.
The Insurance Committee minutes of May 17th were also distributed.
Discussion regarding the new proposed rate for retirees over age
65. John Alden's bid is higher than the current policy with United
of Omaha.
Walt Menello claims that this is discrimination sinc~ other
employees insurance decreased. After a lengthy discussion Lonnie
said that he will contact the insurance commissioner's office and
if necessary, John Alden Life, and report back at the next meeting.
With Lonnie Kellogg being the proposed local agent, Walt Menello
brought up the possibility of a conflict of interest, since Lonnie
is on the insurance committee and the City Council. Lonnie has
abstained from voting on the insurance committee motions.
Motion by Andy Loebe, seconded by Chuck Rodgers, to have Joe
Leckie, City Attorney, give an opinion on the conflict of interest
issue. Motion carried with Lonnie Kellogg abstaining.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 31st at 3:30 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
