Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
17th r'ebruary 1948
The City ~~4uncil of the Citg cif Laurel met in regul~~r session in the
council ~~amber and was called to order by T~a~ror rl~homson at 7~~3~ o~clock M.

The minutes of the k ~t meeting were read. It was moved by vomer and seconded by `codgers the minutes be approved. ~.'he motion carried.
Mrs. Mabel Steele and dirs. 'tee#tha Gehrett, of the Librarg ~'oard, ~~,peared
before the Council in regard to an addition tothe forth end of the Library build in
and other work on the ins~.de of the building.
The ~+~ayor appointed the ~'~inance Committee, pity engineer and Gitq Attarney~ to investigate the closing of second street in Brock 9~ Laurel Realty ~ubdivision~
and to m~~~ ~ report on same ~t meeting of March 2nd,
A, report on ~ trip to Red Lodgef, far demonstration of a Model 312 :diesel
powered Mator Grader, vas made by the City Engineer and Alderman nodgers, ~'hairmar~
of the Street committee.

of the Industrial equipment ~amn~ny' of "illit~gs, on a ~rodel 312 Lieael-powered
Itiotor Grade in the amount of ~7,53~ .72, which wa ~ opened ~t the meeti.n~ of
~'ebruar~r 3rd, and tabled for f~~rtk~er consideration. The motion c~.rried.
The Mayor declared a reces$ to enak~le the council. to a rrive at terms for the
purchase of such ~'atrol. After ~ d3.scussion bar the members of the Counc~.1, it
was moved by ~yold and seconded by Tubm~n the pity officers be an powered to
sign the contract for the new Patrol. L~he motion carried.

the streets o~ the City of Laurel was presented and read.

to such an ordinance, and giving their views on such. act iota. It was mop?ec3 by

house of new lumber on concrete foundation with an 8 foot solid concrete driveway 14x2 attached garage on concrete f'ound~.tion, at ~n ap~~oximate cost of ~35Q
on Lots 9 & I~, Block 2~, Yellowstone Subdivision, was presen~ea and read. It
was moved by P~r~ er and seconded by 5raith the permit be granted. The motion
carried.

carried.

from ~2 Lot 1`7 lit Z8, ~1ock Laurel ~+econd Renltg, one black ~a~t on 6th
Street to Lot 15, dock 23, Laurel 2nd Realty Subdivision, ota rubber tires, and to
place on concrete blocks until spring, then to be placed on concrete foanclation

The Water Lepartment report for the month of January vas .presented. Zt ~~s
moved by Parker and seconded by Smith the report be approved. The motion c€~rried.

The City Glerk's report for the month of Jalauar~r was presented. Tt was
moved by smith and seconded by reu3rbacher the report be approved. The motion
carried.
The Council dissected the City Att;orne~ to prepare a resolution to t ran sf`er
funds from the ':interest on ?~?ar ~onds's find to the Street Fund.
The Mayor stated that the cast of Car s3.11s for use at the Baseball Park
would be X3.75, and th~!t ~omewh~re in the l~~ighborhood c~i' 35 or 4a of them would
be necessary . It was moved by ti~o1d and seconded by ~ubman that tk~e ~ay~r be
authorizes to purchase a~ many car si11s as he thought would be necessary for
the construction work proposed. she motion car.~ied.

unit for the co~.lection of garbage.

authorized to make the necessary correction in his acec>ur~ts, to bal~.nce off
la¢~ error made by the N=ontana ~~ational Bank of Billing, on their statement of November 8th, 1947. `j'he motion carried.
