INSURANCE COMMITTEE
JUNE 28, 1995 5:30 P.M.

Lonnie informed the committee that John Alden's final bid was
figured two different ways. It is the same policy, but one bid
included life insurance for retirees and the other bid did not
include them.
The over all rate for life insurance would increase from .51 cents
per $1,000 to .71 cents per $1,000 to include the retirees. The
added cost to the City would be about $2,100 per year.
Discussion regarding the inclusion of life insurance for the
retired employees.
Motion by Andy Loebe, seconded by Don Nelson, to include life
insurance for the retired employees. Motion carried, with Lonnie
Kellogg abstaining.
The new policy will become effective on September 1st, pending
passage of the resolution on July 5th. A 30 day notice of
cancellation will then be sent to United of Omaha.
The decrease in the City's employee health insurance costs will be
approximately $65,000 for 1995-96 fiscal year.
Insurance booklets will be prepared by John Alden Life. Employee
meetings will be held to explain the booklet and the procedures to
be used in filing claims, etc.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:14 p.m.
