The pity Council of the City of Laurel met in r e~;ular session in the
Council Chamber and was cal:ied to order by Mayor `l'horz~on at 7:.:30 o'clock P. l~A.
Tuesday, June 19th, 1951.

v+ras instructed to open and read all bids. One bid was received. from l~ichard J.
Harris, Jr.,, in the amount of X500 for Lots 1F~ thru 20, Block 3, ~1est Laurel
subdivision. ~~'tor consideration by the Council, it was moved by bTc~~anus and seconded by Feuerbacher the bid of Pr1r. Harris be accapted. The motion Carrie d.
application for a 'ouilding perrr~it by Andrew Kirsch to r~-roof present
s~ porch on dwelling, to be of new and used material in ~hin~le roof , on Lots
3/Z}. of Lot 16 and N 3~1.~ of Lot 15, Block 12, Yellod~stone ~ubdivi lion, at an
approxir:~ato cost of X250 was presented. It vuas moved by ~'~reek~ury and seconded
by Rod~c~rs the ~aerrnit be granted. The motion carried.
An ~~plication for a permit by Ted Bundy to build a 2~.~.x50 cement block
buildin.~ (to attach to Nottingham building) on concrate ~'ounclr~.tion, new materials
on S 17' of Lot 5, and N 7+ of Lot 4, ~31ock 9, mast Laurel subdivision, at an
approximate cost of 7000 was presented. Tt w as moved by 1~1c1'~anus and seconded by
Romer the permit be granted. The motion carried.

Resolution No. 7~2, being a resolution transferring certain funds of
the City of Laurel was presented and r cad. Tt was moved by ~''reebury and seconded
by Rodgers that Resolution No. 71.2 be passed and approved. Upon roll call ~lderm~n present voted t~aye°'~ and said ~~solu~ion No. 71.{.2 was declared passed and
approved.
,An application ~'or a Baer License ~'or `jied~ s Drive-in Market for the
coming; year was ;fir esented. It was moved by x{omen and seconded by ~'`euerbacher
that tie application be ~ran~~ed. The motion carried.
An a;~r~l~cation for a Besr and Liquor T;icensQ ~'or Frank Jacobs for the
comixz~; year v~aas ~~resont~d. Tt was moved by Fr~obury and seconded by jtod~;ers that
the a~~pli ca~i on be granted, after the Mato lics~se numbers have been turned in
to the Treasurer by the applicant. The oration carried.

applicati on Yee granted, after the Mato licensa numbBr hAS been turned in to the
Treasurer by the applica~~. Tlie motion carried.
It was moved by Fre~l~ury and seconded by Roraee th~.t t:t~e Licenses and
Ordinances be rvised before tho final Budget is resented, and that the -Chairman
of all comml~G~tees worK on ~hoso urci~n~nces perLainin to their commltt~ess. The
motion carried.

by Peuerbachar and seconded by ~LOmee the report b e approved. Tile motion carried.
The City Clerk's report f'or the month of May was presented. Tt was move
by Romee and seconded by ~''rQel~ury the report be a~aproved. The motion carried.
CR DTNANCE N0. ~.27
Ordiriarice No. Z:j27, an ordinance provida.ng f'or the receiving of bids and
the letting; of a contract f'or the construction of improvements in Special
Improverlent District No. 73 rues ~~resented for final passage. It was movod by
Freeburg and seconded by 'torlee that ordinance No. 1 27 be finally, passed and adopted. Upan roll call all aldermen present voted "aye" and said ordinance was
finally passed and a~~prov~d.
Trio report of the t' ire v~~artment, s~atin~ members names Ana dates of
joining was presented and read. It was moved by ~~~reE.bury and seconded by
McManus the rQpcr t be approved. The mot ion c arried.
Thy Claim of the Municipal League for membership dues, in the amount of
125 was presented. It was r.~oved by r~reebury and seconded by Romee the claim
be approved. 'The motion carriQd.

It was moved ~om~e and seconded by Scott, that tt~le City construct the necessary manhole in the First Avenue ~u~ardivision, and assess the cost against
the property owners, The motion carriied.
I1~ was moved by Romer and seconded by Scott, that the pity draw up
an Ordinance ~ coveriri~; the combined sidewalk and curb for the First Avenue
Subdivision. Such sidewalk and curb to have the following constructions:: Side-
walk 5 feet vaido, wi th a slopo of ~ inch to the foot; connected curb 18~' wide, sloping from 5" at. the edge of sidewalk to 0'~ at tYie edge of the gutter, then
~o have an 18" ~;ut~er, with expansion joint every 15ft to butter. the motion
carried.

Tt was moved by Frnf bury and seconded by ~~o~~~ars that John Dennis be
appointed as Director of Civol Defense for this area. The r.~otion carried.
