L• The Cit r Couneil of the It of Laurel met in L~ ular session in the
~ Y ~ Council cYiamber and was cal led to order by r~layor `Thomson at 7:3U o' clock P. N1.

Upon roll call the S'ollo~ving aldermen answered present;

The minutes of the "last meeting were read. It was moved by r'reebury
and secorx~led by j{omee the minutes be approved. The motion carried.
Mr. Stuart Johnson appeared k~efore the Council, representing the
Commercial Cluh. He stated that the Club is interested in the beautifying of
the South side of 1Main atreet, with curb and gutter, shrubbery, trees and grays,
an a 10-foot strip from the udder-pass, to ~ubman~ s Food ~atore on the mast.
Also reques~ed a regular cleaning program for Main atroet. It was moved the~t he
meet with the Street ~d PArk ~ornrlittees and the Cit;~T Engineer, to go over such plans and determine what ch~r~~es would have' to be made, and a report to be made
in about a month. ~ _
Mr. Robert ~iamilton a.~peared before the Council in regard to alight on
Sevonth avenue and NI~~n street. It -was gloved that t ie L i~;ht ommittee meet with
PJir. Hamilton and b~in~ in a report after careful study of the matter.
fir. Alex Behm, Hobert Henry, Stan £.Llin~~on, and Peter Duil appeared
before the Councilreques~~r~ ~ermi~~ion for 6 .Water taps on the I~Zain trunk water
line on First Avenue North. t was moved by Freeburg and s eeonded by Feuerbacher
that permission to tap the line be granted and bills be sent out when t he 'block
is brought into the City Lim3.ts. TYle cost to be figured by the City Engineer.

NJIr. Harlan Russell appeared be~6~6re the Council in regard to trea~tZ~ent
of one of his guests by the Police Department.
ft7r. Charles Viiood appeared before the Council with a repot on the dances
at riverside for t~hc~ past two weeks. He stated that there was very little
trouble while the police were in attendance.
An application for a permit by .~~3ake Franks t;o build a 21~x3~ franc; house
on concrete foundation, of new materials, also a 22x2L~ frame garage on concrste
foundation, of new materials, on Lots 15 8c 16, Block ~e~, .East Yellowstone- Sub-
division, at ~n a:~proximate cost of X6,000 was pre sentod. It was moved by
~~.~.erbacher and s econded by t~omee the pormit be gr~ni~od. The motion carried.
An application for a hermit by J. R. Anderson to move a 22x32 frame
house of new materials from the ~~est End. dumber Co., to Lots 19 & 20, Block 17,
Laurel Hei ~ht s Subdivision, to be set on concrete dock foundation on concrete
footin~s~ house to >>e moved on ru'~ber tires, at an approximate cost of7,000
was presented. It was moved by Homee and seconded by McManus the permit bA granted. The motion carried.
An ay~plication for ~ permit by ti_Llio Doiven to build a 10x12 frame
aduition on concrete foundation, to bo attached to presort building, addition to
be built of new materials, on Lots 3 and part of Lots 2 8c. 1~, Block 7, Laurel
Heights Subdivision, at an approximate cost of ~L~00 vvas ~r esented. It was moved

fib, OUO was ;presented. It was raovPd by IVIcManus and seconded by 1VIcCormick the
permit be granted. The motion carried.

building, on concrete four~lation, with gable roof, on Zoos 16 through 2U, Block 2, Nest Laurel Subdivision, at an approximate cost of was presented.

The clork~ s report for January was' presented. Zt vase moved by M~1Vlanus
and seconded by Feuerbacher thereport be approved. ~'he motion carried.
A letter was received from Safeway Stores, of ~ut~e, requesting the
names of ~ndividia.als who are member9 of the City '"Planning commission"', also of the Coning Board, was read. ~l'he ~%ity has no planning comrlission, nor zoning
board, as the City council handles such matters, and it was moved that. such a
reply be liven Safeway Mores, with the suggestion ghat they might meet with the
Council .
The I~iayor appointed the following; members for the local hoard of Health, sub ject to the approval of tiie Council; Dr. E. C. Hall, John Dennis, and
George H. IVIcCarm ck. zt was moved by RomQe and seconded by McManus that the
appointments made by the Td~iayor be apa,~roved. The motion carried.
A staterlent of ownership of stock in the Laurel Co-op. Assoc., through
1951 uvas read to the Council.
A letter from the Nor them. ~aci.f'ic Railway relative ~o t~.at'fie control
.light on Fifth ~veriue crossing; was read to the Council. The later stated that
this matter wi11 be referred to the proper authorities for. further consideration
and you will be advised latez~ what is developed. in the matter..
ORDl"1`1ANCE NO..~-33
Ordinance No. x.33, being an ordin~ynce regulating the double parking
of moor tiehieles in the Cite of Laurel, was. presented for second reading. It
was mowed by. Mc~ranus and seconded by ~''et~..~rl~acher that Ordinance No. Z}.33 be
finally passed and adopted. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted "taye~~
arad said ordinance was finally passed anal adopted.
The Ci-~y Engineer prociuaed a map ,and Figures on the proposed extension
of a storm 'ewer at the 'fast end of tYie pity, and explained iahat the plans were
..for the future drainir~ of Streets. rye also explained that the City plans were
to lay approximately 1500 feet of 21.}." and 30" pipe along fine north side of Main
Street from alder Avenue to Elm avenue this spring. It wag moved by ~'reebury
and seconded by Mc Corm ek that the City Clerk be in~~tructed to ~.dverti se for bids on needed pipe;- and that triepro ject be developed to t he f ullest extent possible
with available funds. The rlo.tion carried.
