Tuesday., February 5~h~ 195 • Upon roll ca"11 the following aldermen ans~vc~red present Freeburg ~aott Tubman 1VI!cMantzd . Romee Rodgers The rnin.utes of the .last meeting were read. It was moved by Freeburg and seconded by Homee the rlinute~ be approved'. The motion carried. Mrs. Paul Floret' appeared before the ~'ounc~il, reguestin~ the uge of one - of the City buildings for a Red Cross Nursing course. She` Mated that the pro~ra would be continued for approximately one ,year, 'and would be in classes of not over 10 in each class, with each course to last a~prc~x ~a.tely three weeks. No ao~ion was taken a~ this time, in r egard to ash gn ng room for such a program. Mr. Frank riartley appeared before the Counts. 1 in regard to juveniles. A letter t'rzam Charles Sande,' County Attorney, in which t1e called the Councils s I attention to the need for police enforcement at ~ivQrsde Park when dances are held., was presented and read. It was 'sut bested that all requests for use of the Hall be submitted to Council for a~prov~~. The matter was tabled for the next F,, meeting of Council. Mr J. L. If Fifth ~tPeet needs to ~e repaired, that they would rip it up and re-lay it, That streets will be crowned uvhere necessary. An application for a renewal of ~e rrnit by Claude' Ingraham try build. a 28}.2 frame house on concrete block foundation on concrete footings, of new and used rria~erial on Lots 13 & 1L~., Block 26, ~a~t Yeilovv~tone subdivision, at an approximate cost of ~P8,000 wag presented. It wasmoved by McManus end seconded by f~od~ers the pormit be re-approved. The motion carried. An a~aplicat ion .~'or a permit by John L. Tubman to take down standard Oil sign and hang ~'hillips Yetro7.eum sign size 6~x6~ to ~~e hung from a ~.}."t pole at a height o~ ap~roxir~ate 12~ , pole located approximate 2t east of the east gasolin pump was read. It was moved by 14~Icl~~anus and seconded by dodgers that the a,~~licati on be approved, under the supervision of the pity E,~gineer. The motion carried. An ~ plicaton for a perrlit by Saechia Herrl~n to build a frame house ~2~32 of riew and used rr~terials on concrete foundati on on Lots 19 & 20, Block 22, East Yellowstone subdivision, at an a~proxirrr~~e cost of ~5, UUO was pz°esented. It was moved by Rodgers and seconded by ~`'.reebury that t;he hermit be granted. The motion carried. The Library report for the month of January v~a~ presented. On roll call all aldermen present voted "'aye" and said Ordinance was passed on first reading. Upon ro11 call .all alelermen present vo~sd "aye's and said resolution way declared passed and approved RESOLUTTON N0. 767 Resolution No, 767, bain~ a resolution proposing ~o extend the boundaries of the City of Laurel, 14~ont~.a, to ~i~~:lude a portion of First Avenue Subdfl'ision, .from E~nth Street to Maryland Lane to -tie Nor~~, and Fir st Avenue to the east. side of 'third Avenue on the yv est, was read. 1t vas moved b~ Romee and seconded by Scott tra t Reg ~lu~Gion. A letter was receieed from ~arlen~ Ha~'er, far poiition as assistant recreation Director 'for the e oming year, vas read. It was moved by ~r eebury and ssoor¢~ ed by Tubman the letter be turned over ~o the Recreational Committee. The motion carried. A fetter was received ~rom~ Pat Bundy, for position as assistant recreation director. for the corning year was read. It was moved by Freeburg and seconded by ~1'ubm~n the letter be turned over to the recreational committee. The motion carried. A letter from the I~lontana State Board of Health, reques~~ g the names of each member off' the local Board of ~ea:lth, was presented and r ead. No action was taken at this time. ,t~ .letter from Lou Franzen requesting a leave of absence from the Fire Department for reasons of Health, was read. Boyle wou:Ld be the alternate member during such absence. It was moved by Freebur;~ and seconded by Tubman the appointment be approved. The mo~ion'carr ed. It was moved by Scott and aeoonded by McManus that the street Committee dictate letter to the ~i113n~s Gazette in're~ard to newsboys throwing wire and papery about on the Street at Montana' and Main Street.
