The minutes of the meeting of August I~.~h, 1953, were read, and on

It was announo ed by ~ rye ao~G ing City Clerk that now is the time for the
opening of the bids on the Main Trunk Life Viewer, City o~ Laurel, General fond
Issue inythe amount of X32,000.00. A b~.d submitted in vuri~ing by the ~ta~Ge hoard
of Land ~ommissianers was read, which oi"ferod to p~~archase the bonds a~ par and 4% interest, the bonds to be amoritization bonds. vuri~ten bid was submitted by
~Ghe Yellowstone Barik, Laurel, IVlontana, of'f erein~ to purchase the bonds a~ par
and 4/, serial type bonds. The Yellcawstone dank, Laurel, 1Vloritana, made an oral
b3.d of ~10.0U .premium. to be added to their original bid. On motion of Counail-
man ~QO~;ts seconded by Councilman Beslanwi~Goh, it was moved Ghat the oral bid of
the yellows one Bank, Laurel, NIon~ana, be aQCep~ed and on rail call, all aouncil-
men present, voted aye and the did o ' the Yellovustone Bank, Laurel, 1~Zontana, was aocep~Ged.

was moved by Counc ilman Freeburg and seconded by Councilman Soot that the bid of the Yellowstone Bank, Laurel, Montana, be accepted. Upon roll call all

PJlon~ana, was accepted.
Mr. Choi Eyer, of Billings, 1VZon~;ana, appeared before 'the Council and
explained the possibilities of a City-Coun~Gy Planning hoard to ba ~e~ up by Laurel. After somQ d~_scussion, on mo~ior of Counailrnan Sco~Gt, seconded by
Councilman Rodgers, it was moved that the matter be referred to the Street
Committee. The motion ca-rric~d.
It was announood by the Mayor that now is tree time ~'or th.e discussion
of parking meters for the City of Laurel. .A~>proximately 28 membbrs of the Laurel Commercial Club appeared before the Council and through their presence, Harlan
Russell, asked the City council no~G ~o install. parking rle~ers in -Ghe City of
Laurel a-G this time. Upon voice vote, of all the councilmen, ~Ghe Council voted
1~ in Favor, of tho motion ~.nd 4 against. 'l~he Mayor voted for the motion and
~ierefore Ghe motion was passed.
On. motion of Councilman. Freeburg, seconded by councilman Ruff, it way moved ~Gh.at tn.e ci~G~/ Clerk k~e in'strruo~ed to vurite the A~Iontana Municipal League for
information v~~it~.~ referonae to parking meters. The motian carried.

It was moved by Councilman Beslanw3. and seconded by CounQilman Ruff, that the reeommerldation by adopted ley the Council. The mo~ior~. carried.
Mr. F. G. ~tro'~e, of Billings, Tv~ontana, appeared before the Couno it with

He presented a contract for considaration ~.f the Couneil between ~i~y off' Laurel

ations. Upon motion of Councilman Ru~'.f, ~oconded by Councilman Sco~~G, it way movod that council accept the oontrac~ as written and the Ma~ror be authorized to

The City Treasurers s report for the month of Jul J was read, and it
w~.s moved by councilman. Tubman, seconded by Councilman Beslanwitch that the said
report be a~~y~roved as read. The motion carried.
The city Clerks s re~~ort for the month of July was read. It was moved by
Councilman Ruff end seconded by Councilman 'Seot~ t h~ t the City C1erk~ s report f'or
the month of Jul~T be at~proved. The mo~ior~. carried.
The City ~''~gineert s bond was presented for approval. Tt was moved by
Councilman Scott and accorded by Councilman Freeburg ghat said bond be approved.

Ordinance No. 458 being; a.n ordinance requiring parallel parking in
all parts of town, was read. It; way moved by Cot~n~~lman Beslanvuitah and seconded by councilman ~uf'f that ~Ghe Ordinance be passed. Upon roll Qall all councilmen
present voted aye and the ordinance was declared passed.
Dr. Nottingham appeared before the cotiu~.Qi Z and reported on the
recent meeting; of the Stake Highway Department ~ with ref erenoe to the proposed
4-lane hi~hv~~ay between Laural and Bil.lin~s. He reported that the Ou~l.ook for the
Qons~ruo~Gion of this highway ira. the near futuro was very favorable.
