The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Counoil
Chambers and w as called to order by Mayor Thomson at 7 s:30 0? clock P. M. 'l~uesday
March 3rd, 1953•
Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present::

Mr. Cal Penman. appeared before 'the ~nuncil in regard to renting Riverside
Park for public dancing. He ~uas informed that any one pu~~Ging on publio danoes
at Riverside Park should be sponsored by some local organization.
Mr. Ray ,fisher of the A & P Booking, appeared before the Council request3.ng
permission ~o put on a public dance at Riverside Park Maroh 7th, and any other
Saturday rli~ht not taken by Wedding; llanees, until. stopped by use CounQil. It
was moved by MQManus and seoonded by Romee that the permission be granted. The
motion a arrie d.
An application f'or ~ renewal o~ a permit by Ed Zundel to rebu3.l.d to i6~36
frame garage on Qoncrete foundations new and used materials, on Lots North 20'
of 3, all of Lod 4, Block 2, Laurel Heights subdivision, at an. ~.pproximate cost
of X500 uvas presented. I~ was moved by Tubman anal aeoonded by MoCormiok the
permit be renewed. she motion carried.
An application f'or a permit b~ Donald Devit~G to build a 236 frame house, and 12x20 frame gara~e, both on ooncrete foundation of new rr~.aterials, on Lois
~~L&~~Bloek 1st venue Subdivision, a~G an approximate cost of X9,000 was
presented. It was moved by Ma~Zanus and seconded by Homes the permit be granted.
The motion parried.
An application for a permit by Axel Glen Peterson to build 21:} .6 fra~a.s house with attached garage on aonc~rete bl.ook foundation, new materials on Lots ~ & 10~
BloQk First Avenue Subdivision, at an appr oximats cost of ~6, 000 waa presented.

motion carried.

2500 was presented. It was moved by Freeburg and seQOnded by MaC~'~iok the
permit be granted. The mo~Gion parried.
An appliQation for a permit by Irawrenae Cellrner to build a 3~ piQket fence
- across front of Lots N. 20t of 7 and all of ~o~ 8, Block 11, East Laurel Subdivisi and along sides of Lot 7~ all at an approximate cosh of ~25 was presented. It
was moved by Rodgers a.nd seQOnded by Tubman the permit b~ granted. `TYie motion
carried.
An application f'or membership on the Fire Department icy I'~~e.rrsll J. MoUillen
was presented to the council. ~t was moved b~ Tubman and seconded by Romee the
membership be acaep~ed. The motion carried.
A 1e~tar of resignation by Robert L. Morriss member off' the Fire Depatrtmen~ was read. T~G was. moved key McManus andseQOnded by Rodgers the resignation be
accepted. The motion carried.
A letter of r s~~?~gnation by Lou Franzen, member of the Fire Dept., was read.
It was moved by Tub'ir,.an and seaon.ded by Romee the resignation be aocep~Ged. The
motion carried.
RESOLUTION N0. 803
Resol'~icion No. 803, ordering and directing the filing andr eQOrdin~ of a~
of'f'ioial p1.at of a subdiv3.s ion de signaled a s an amended plat of Yellowy tone
Subdivision, in the City of Laurel, way read. It was moved by Freeburg and ~enonded by Hodgers that ~e~olution No. 803 be passed and approved. Upon ro11
Qall all alderman present voted '"aye~~' and said Resolution was d eolared passed and
~.pproved.
It was moved by Tub man and seconded by McCormick that the City Engineer
h~.ve neQessary authoritry ~o clear up City lots on mouth side on amended play.
The motion carried.

Mr. Jamey Dion appeared before fihe ~ounoil in regard ~o trunks banking
over his lawn.
The Library report for the month of February v~ras read. It v~ras moved by
Freeburg and seoonded by Fsuerbaoher the report be approved. The mot ion carried.
The Police reports f'or the month of ~'ebru.ary were read. I~ was moved by
Rornee and seconded by Ma~anus the reports be approved. The motion parried.
A letter from. dam DeFrance~ r egarding the disposit3.on of the culvert pipes
which ho has installed and the moving of a ns on sign., at the time the nero~
proposed ~~orm Sewer is ins~Gal.led, vuas read. Tt was moved by MaCorm.iol~ and ~eoonded by Romed the letter be planed on file ~'or the present, as no aotion will
be taken on this proj~at, at the present. The motion carried.
letter from School District No. 7, requesting the closing of alleys ;in
Blocks 3ZI- ~ 35, off' the Allard Subdivision was read. T~ was moved by dodgers and
ssaonded bar Feu~rbaaher, that the proper petition be filed. The motion carried.
