The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the CounQil
chamber and was called to order by Mayor Thomson at 7::30 0' clock P. M. Tuesday
February 17th, 19.3•
Upon roll ca11 the t'ollowing aldermen answered pre~en~s:
McManus McCormick
F~eebury Tubman
Rodgers Feuarbacher
The minutes of the last meeting were read. Tt was moved by McManus and seconded by McCormick the minutes be a_~proved. The motion Qarr3.ed.
Mr. Hasher appeared before ~Ghe Council in regard to renting riverside Park
f'or public dancing. He reported that a~G the th.res dances which nis org~.nization
had held 3.n the C"oun~y, no trouble was enQOUn~ered, and gave his ou~Gline for
keeping trouble From s~~r~ing. I~ way moved by ~ubman and seconded by Feuerbacher
that Mr. Hasher be per~,i~~ed ~o rend the hall on February 28~Gh, arld he wi11 pay for two Polieernen to bs on duty when the d~noe is 3.n progre~a. ~-'he motion carried.
Mr. R. B. ~'aakard, speaking for the American Legion dance, appeared be~'ore tY~.e
Council 3.n r egard to juvsnil.es at the danQea. He ~ta~ed fiat they could not make
any money, if they had ~o keep out the young people. It way moved by ~reebury and
~soanded by M~Cormi ek that the danQe be planned for March 2].st, and that the Leg3.o
pay for two policemen for 3 hours of pa~Groling a~ the dance, at the rake off' ~2 per hour. The motion carried.
It way moved by Mc~~lanus and seconded by '~uhman that the er3.can. Legion be
charged for rental of the ha11 for such a dance. The mo~Gion carried.
Mr. Harry mart appeared before the Council. for th.e Lau°~~l Co-op. ~s~ca.

F~?eebur~r ar~3. seconded by Rodgers that such a ~'enae be permitted. 'the motion
carried.
$~r. A. H. Salsbury appeared before the Council inquiring if anything could ~bs
done ~o get the block ora. Fourth avenue between I~th street and 5~h Street, oiled.
He sta~Ged ghat it was the only block on Fourth Avenue, which did not have an
oiled strip. There was noaation on this rnat~er at the present .time.
He also st~.~ed tha~G he wau.ld be willing to volunteer hip services to the City on planning of future tree planing in boulevards, and on City property. `I'ha~ he
would advise on the trimming of trees where~zer needed, for the City. The Council
thanked him ~'or his considera~Gion in this- matter.
An application for a permit by ,~rthur L. Strand, ~o build a 20x2 frame
garage on concrete foundation, off' new and used ma~e-rials on Lots 11 & 12, Block 6,
Laurel HeigYits ~ubd3.vision, at an ap~oxima~e Qost of ~1~.00 was presented. I~G was moved by Mcr~2anus and seconded by McCormick the permit be granted. The motion
carried.

frame house on concrete f ounda~Gion, of riew and used rna~erials, on Lots 5 & 6,
Block 7, First ~~enue subdivision, at an approximate cost of ~6,~00 was presented.
It was moved by Feuorbaehar and sedonded by Rodgers the permit be granted. The
motion e arried.

motion carried.

by Montanus and seconded by Tubman the permit be granted. Thy motion carried.

The Clerks s report t or the month of January was read. I~ was moved by
Feuerbach~r and seconded by McCormick the report be approved. `j'he motion oarried.

The Engineer reported on the proposed Qurb end gutter a1on~ Main Street. He
sated ~Gha~ it would b~ V~Test from Alder Avenue to approximately half'-way in the
bloctk between Colorado and P~~i ntana Avenues, on the north and south side of the
Stree~G, and would be set up on .footage basis .
