FAP COMPLEX
JUNE 16, 1996
7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Ron Marshall, chairman
Darrell McGillen
Jim Stevens
Gay Easton
Bill Brennan
Darrell explained that Engine #1 (64 International) had
been evaluated by Becker Fire Service of Casper. They found
that it would cost approximately 11 to 13 thousand to repair
the damaged pump. In addition this unit needs a new water tank
and valve replacements which would bring the total cost of repair
up to 18 to 20 thousand. The fire sub-committee met and decided
that they will repair it in house. Darrell indicated that with
the upcoming "fire season," Engine #2 (51 International) will
be activated. He said we will probably have to rely on Mutual
Aid agreements with other local area departments.
Committee next discussed the purchase of a new commercial
pumping unit. A proposal was received from Becker Fire Service
for a new 1996 Freightliner unit for a cost of $151,118.00~?
which would be a 1250 GPM pumper. This unit would not have
the CAV (compressed air vacumn) system. The department had
earlier this month looked at a new unit with this system but
it would have an additional 60 thousand cost. Attached is a
proposal from Federal Signal Corporation for the direct purchase
of this unit. Discussion also followed as to other ways of
financing. Fire Districts and LUFSA would also have to carry
their load in the purchase of this unit. Their contracts are
due to be renegotiated next year. Motion by Bill Brennan,
seconded by Gay Easton to recommend to the Budget and Finance
Committee the purchase of a 1996 Freightliner Commercial Pumper.
Motion carried. ~
