Darrell reported to the committee that he had checked with
various suppliers concerning repairs to Engine #1, (64 Inter-
national) and that they had advised economically that it wasn't
feasible to spend a whole lot of money on equipment that is
thirty years old, and does not meet today's standards.
Darrell reviewed with the committee figures that he had
worked up concerning the purchase of a new fire truck. Revenues
for this purchase would come from in increases to the fire
districts, LUFSA, and increased contributions from the City
of Laurel.
The Department this year had planned to retire Engine #2
(51 International) and replace with a new unit. The new unit
being proposed is a Commercial, not Custom, unit which will
have a price tag in the area of $150,000. Payments on a straight
purchase or lease agreement would be about $35,000 per year.
With the approval of the committee, Darrell was directed
to take this proposal to the Budget and Finance Committee.
~u~mitted,
Ron Marshall, chairman
