G. Scott, as actin; Mayor, at 7:30 o~elock p.m., '~uesday May 17th, 1955• Upon roll call the following aldermen ansvaered present: Rodgers Parker H~ ning Leuthold ~U i 11 cams r~r~ e bury the minutes of the pre-vious meeting were read. It was moved by Parker and seconded bg Rodgers the mini~~es be approved. the motion carried. i~'1r. John Mauch appeared before the ~ouneil, in retard to Ghe tiring of guns at the pity Dump. he was ass^red that signs ~n~ould be erected without delay. Nor. James Knight .appeared k~efore the ~ounc il, for the V. F 'p~., requesting that they be allowed to lease riverside Hall, f'or a period of owe to den years. It was moved,b~ illiams and seconded by darker tha+~ the matter be burned over to the Park ~'omm3ttee to meet with a delegation from the F. 1~. for study and. a report to the ~ounc il. 'rhe motion carried. The ~.reasur~rts report f'or the month of April was presented. It was moved by Freeburg and a~cond@d by Rodgers the report be approved. 'rhe motion carried. ~~~he clerk's report f'ofi the month of Aril was presented. It was moved by Freeburg and seconded by Rodgers the report be approved. RESOLUTION N0. 905 hesolution No. 905, baing a resolution t ransferring certain funds of the City of Laurel, was road. It was moved by ~''reebury and :seconded by dodgers thai; Resolution No. 905 be pissed end approved. Upon roll call all aldermen ~ went voted ~~aye''~ and said resolution was declared- passed and approved, R~SO~UTION N0. 9G~i Resolution No. 906, being; a resolution of Intention to create Special Improvement District No. B0, ~~~in~ sidewalks, with s ome ctaa~s end gutters, was presented. Zt was moved by ~'arker and seconded by Leuthold that Resolution No. 906 be passed and approved. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted ?'ayes' and said resolutieon was declared passed and approved. RESOLUTION N0. X07 Resolution No. 907 be ing a resolution approving the rlat of the hagemen ' Subdivisi on was read. it was ?rioved by Rodgers and seconded by ~~'illiams -that Resolution No. 907 be gassed aid approved. Upon roll call, all aldermen present voted "aye" and said resolution was declared L~assed and approved. ORDINANCE N0. 482 -r dinance No. ~3~'~ being an emergency ordinance, requ~ering that all nevi houses, and buildings, and all alterations, be required to construe ~uitrin 6 months, s~.dewalks, curbs and butters, al ong all street areas adjacent t o, m bordering on the property concerned with.. the permit. It was moved by Leuthold acid seconded by Parlor that ordinance `~o. ~.32, be finally passed and approved. Upon roll call, all aldermen present voted "ayes" snd said Ordinance was declared passed and approved. claim in t he amount o~ ~1~91.1~2, from Modern Chevrolet was presented. After consideration b;~ the r finance Committee, it was moved by Ff~eebury aid seconded by Rod~era the claim be ;paid. '~.'he motion carried. ORDI T~tANC E NO. 48 3 ordinance No. 48~, being an emergency ordinance, setting the ~u~.~er rate schedule, to become effective as of the lst day of May, vvas ~res~ted. It was moved btr Parker and seconded by horning that Ordinance No. ~83 be finally passad and approti~ed. Upon roll call all aldermen regent voted "aye ~t and said Urdin~nce was declared passed and approved. O~.D INANCE NO . 1}.84 Ordinance loo. ~.8~}, being an emergency Ordinance, setting the sew~:r rate schedule at 11~, for the present time, to become effective as of the lst day of May , was presented. It was moved b~ Leuthold and seconded by Parker that Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Ordinace No. ~.}.~3~ be finally passed and approved. Upon roll call all aldermen present Voted "aye" and said ordinance was declared passed and approved. The acting N:ayor made the f'ollowir~g appoii~~ments: John Dennis. pity'.<~ngineer vharles UUood ~}~~.~;~{'o~~'Police It was moved b~ Freeburg and seconded by tod~ers the appointments be approved. The motion carried. Aldermen Parker gave report on the Police Le~ai~tm.ent. He stated 'chat the pity would hire another man for vacation periods, to be taken by the present Police Off'ic~rs, who vuould receive the starting salary for Policemen, a fter the new Fiscal year. It was moved b;~r Rodgers and seconded by ~,f'eebury that the recommendations of the yolice committee be approved, also that the Police car3 be equipped with dual exhaust pipes. 2'he motion carried. The ~apti~t church made a request f'or setting; a trailer house on their lots on 7th avenue, to be used only for Sunday School purposes fnr ~ children. I'~~ trailer vv ill be set on concrete blocks, and will L~ temporary, for a period of not more thin. 6 months. It tivas moved key Rodgers and s econded by -Leuthold that 'the ~~ermis sion ~e wanted, f o-r~he 6 months period. j'he motion carried. The City Engineer ~av~ a r e port nn the request of Flex Behm f or a water main along Wasllin~ton riv~nue, in t he 8 and 900 Block. ~ldermari L~uthold repc~rted that the ni~hway Commission members who had attended the xc~tar~ flub luncheon, wero very favorably impressed with the ~^aork that had been done by ~-,he City, inthe widening. of I~2ain Street. ~'t was moved and seconded we do no~ra adjourn..
