The C3.t~ Gounail of the City of ~-'aurel ~ met in regular session in the Cpuncil
Chambers, and was called to order by mayor ~hornson, at ~~~0 o~clo~k p,rri.., Tuesday
M&y lst' 1956.
Upon roll call the f"ollotivin~ aldermen answered present:

Reverand Larsan opined the meeting with a pra~~r.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. It was ~ri~ved by Freek~ury and
seconded by ~bersviller the minutes be a~~rovod. the motion ~arr~.ed.
Mr. Hum S~re~ney apps aced before the ~%ouncil r equesting that the pity clear ~h.e
property along t~ho Eag~ side of Fourth avenue, for Mr. 0. C . Cooper. It eras moved by Freeburg and seconded by I~od~ers that the matter be referred to the ~ ity .A~torney,
ii' Mr. Sweeney could not get the affidavit of publication, which would clear the

I~r. David P1lurray appeared before t~.e Council r eques~in~ a orator service on his
property north of the Ci~Gt~ Limits, and on the Water .Main.. ~e skated that he would b~
willing to d edioate a 24-f cot alley in each of the cloaks ghat he owns, but that he did not propose to ded~.cate the opening- of F3.~ th A~'~nue, which would be t~~ou~h his
property. Alderman Scott, Ghairmonf' of the ~4~ater ~ornmittee, sated that all land
should be platted before Water services are ~ iven, but :hat it would be waived in th3.
case only.
It was moved by Scott and seconded by Horning that ~Zr. Mur~ay~s appl3.e~~G~.on .for
1 dwelling water service be approved, if a 20-food alley is dedicated to the City. 'The motion carried,
The City _~n~ineer reoorr~mended that the CQUncil ~apoin~ a Committee ~o work on
getting a north -and south Street, through the LaurMa4 Subdivision, at appro~t.imatel~r
~c~urth 4~~~~ue, before too much more of Ghe land is sold. ~ld~rmen Smott, Leutk~old
and ~bersvi ler volunteered to serve on such a committee,

Water and ;~e~rer lines ~n the streets. His suggestion was that the ~%ity be the one
to do the op enin~ and closing of such ditches, in order to maintain control o~
danger and warning ;signs, and the correct ~aok-f filling. He stated ghat there his
been numerous Insurance clairn.s because of the holes left from such lines which hack settled. It was moved by Scot and s e4onded by Ebersviller ghat the matter be rePerr-

Mr. Neil Baker appeared before the ~ouneil r eguestin~; that the pity grade the
alley in t;h~ Fourth Avenue Subdivision, in the 900 Block. pie stated ghat the a11ey
is h~.gher than the back yards of the homes built along there, And thought that it should be ~radQd down. He~ was assured that some ~raork would be done on the a11ey,
when the ground had dried sufficiently to allow the patrol to work there .

Resolution No. 9b0 be passed and approved. Upon roll ea11 all aldermen present voted ~'ayet~ and said resolution was finally passed and approved.

The City Attorney reported that i~ would be necessary to obtain a Notice oP
Ap~ropria~Gion o~ ~`J~.ter fr m the Yellowstone River for the City.
A report on the proposed house to be built by Alex Fr3.tzler, was given. Tt vas
stated by the Council t~,.at inasmuch as the proposed plan did not meet u~~ ith the Cityt s
s~eci#'ications, ~~hat tize plan would have to be ohanged.
