Chambers, and was called to order by lViayor ~'homs~n, at 7;30 0' clock p.m. ~ Tuesday
ivlarah 5th, 1957.
Upon roll Qall the following aldermen answered present:
dodgers Ebersviller
Horning Leuthold
Parker Williams
Scott ~'reebury
T'he minutes o~ the previous meting were read. Tt was moved by Horning and seconded by Ebersviller the minutes be approved. The motion carried.
Mr. Ralph panel introduced Bud ~cotten to l~he Council, diving rates on
insurance. It was moved by Freeburg and seconded by Rodgers that the rates be
turned over to the Finance Committee f'or study and recommendations to the Council.
The motion carried.
The Police reports f or t he mcnth of February were pre'sent~d. It was mc~ed by
~'arker anal seconded by Rodgers the~c~reports be a~~~roved. The motion carried.
~'he Poliee Jude ~ s report f or'.the month oP February was presented. It was
moved by Rodgers and seconded by Ebe.rsviller the report be approved. The notion
carried.
'she Library report for the month of February was ~~esented. It was moved by
Leuthold ~.nd seQOnded by ~'Villiams the report be approved. The motion c arried.
`t'he Health O~ficar~s report for the month of F b~uary was pr~:sented. Zt was
moved by Leuthold and seconded by Rodgers the report be approved. The: motion carried.
The bills of the month of February were presented for payment. ,af ter due
consideration by the Finance Committee, it was moved by Ebe~~viller and seconded
by ~'reebury the following bills be allowed:

The motion carried.
The Engineer reported that'the Montana Povaer Cornpang is expecting to r~z7.aQe
power lines along the west side of youth let .venue, which is along the south
~ f ~ hightivay, and e xpl~.ined than there ~t~re problems ~.n regard' to the plaain~ o~ suah ~o1es, to allow for an 8fl-foot street. Alderman Leuthold reported that the Chamber
~ of Co~nrnerce is anx3.ous to have. a ~.-lane highway south to vuhere the proposed East-
UVest main highw~.y will be built. he stated that at present there is a need for
such a highway to fake care of traffic to the Refinery. Mr. E. I'~inter, of the
Montana Power Company stated that the Company v~ould like to be able to erect the
i poles ~n the proper' place at this time, iff possible.
The City attorney reQOmmemmded that the Gouno3.l appoint someone with authority
to proceed in clearing up this matter before any more Qons~ruction. hay taken
place, and recommended that the Engineer's off ice be so authori~~d. It was moved
by Scott and seconded by Leuthold that the Counma.l pass a resolution authori,~~ng
the Engineer to pro~e~d with the. dediaati.on of property, and for the o~~ers to gran an easement to Yellowstone County for same, f'or road purposes.. The mot~.on Q a~ried.
The Engineer reported on a meeting held with the dilater Comm~.t~ee and Cop
Con,s~ruation and stated that they had agreed on paying 30-da~g 1.iqu.ida~ed damages.
~'e also Mated that Mr. ~'homas Robinson of Black ~ Veatch mould be in Laurel. and
ava~.lable f'or a meeting on either the egen~.n~ of the 25th or the 27th of March;
and recommended ,that no further action be taken until suari time .
It was moved by Scott ar~d seconded by Rarker that Eetimat #18 in the. amount of approximately ~19,55~-•00, r~lassing 7~ of retaina~;e ~o fop ~onstrum~ion be
~pprroved, sub~ea~ to ~~~.ck & Veatch approval. `the motion carried.

A moe~in~ ~'or consultation with riembers of the Library hoard was requested for
l~ar~ch 6th, at 7:30 0!clock, to discuss improvements to the floor in ~;he Library.
Alderman Leuthold suggested that a Resolut~.on in f avor of the splendiel work of John Brohaugh, while ~~'ire Chiefs be drawn up, after consultation with the Fire
Department.
Alderman Williams re.oommended ~.n inorease of 10/ in salary, f'or the City
Engineers ef'f'ec1~. vs the 1st of March. Tt vas moved by horning and seoonded by
Leuthold the recommendation be approved. 'The emotion carried.
It was moved and seconded, we do now adjourn. l~he motion carried.
