`the City ~'ou~.ail of the pity of Laurel, met in regular session in the Council
Chambers, and was called to order by Mayor `~`homson a~ 7:30 0' clook p.m. Tuesday February 19th, 1957•

'rhe minutes of the previous meetj,ng were read. It vas moved by Parker and
se concled by Freeburg the minutes be approved. l'he motion carried.
Mr, c. G. Giblin appeared before the Counoil requestint that he be allowed t
connect with the sewer, along the south highway. ~e stated that he was intending
to oanstruct a drive-in, which would be operated about 6 months eaah year. Tt was moved by Scott anal seconded bar Ebersvillor that Mir. G3.blin be given the same
consideration as Safeway Stores, on the east side of the road, in the matter of
SEiWOT's and that h~ would be expeQted to participate in a Special Improvement
District, ~?hen one was crewed. The motion carried.
RESOLUTIGN N0. 991
Resolution No. X91 bei~}g a resolution trans~errin~ certain funds of the Cit-y
of Laurel was read. It was moved by Scott and seconded by 'I~illiams that ~esolutio
No. 991 be passed and approved. Upon roll e all all a ldermen present vote "ayef'
and said r esolution vacs declared passed and approved.
The Water report f'or January 20th, was presented. It was moved by Freeburg.
and seconded byEbersviller that the report be approved. The motion carried.
The `T'reasurer's report for January was presented. It was roved by Ebersville
~znd seconded by Rodgers the re~or~ be approved. The motion carried.
The Clerks s report f'or January was presented. It way moved by Scott and
seQOnded by Freeburg the report be approved. I'he motion carried.
A letter From Charles 1~2. thaw Company, Central lure ty & Ins uranee Corp.
consent ink to the payment of the retained percentage in Qonr~ coon with ~~he
contract of ~''lynn 8c Cop construction, was read. The 1-etter was placed on file.
A letter from ~talph Pagel, agent far thaw-Lucas insurance Cor,~pany, requesting
that he be allowed the break-dovJn on coverages, in order that he might bid on inusra:nee on i"titer Plan~G, was read. It was moved by Scott and seconded by
Ebersviller that the information on inusranoe be made available to any interested
part;. The motion carried.
Mr. Clay Greening appeared before the ~ounc it in r e~ard to land on V~Vest Main
Street. The pity Attorney repor~od that no bid is necessary to sell. land in the C ity, but that it does have to have a 2f 3 vote of the Coun~ it in f avor of such a
sale. He also stated that tcie City mould not give a clear title unless we could
get one from the State. Mr. Greening was assured that he v~ould'be contacted when
we near From the Mate and learn ~~.at add~.tional costs there might be, for payment
of fee t o Mate.

Mrs. Y . J. 0 Rourke and other members of the Junior Women's Club, appeared before the Counoil stating that they w ore willing to purchase a 6t high; ~heavy-
duty slide, ~uith a 12' chute, and asked permission f'or the City to loc ate it in
the north Pik. It was moved by Scott and seconded by ttodgers that the City
accept the equipment and that the Club would have the full co-operation of the
City in the installation of same. The motion Qarried.

It was moved by Parker and seconded by Horning the claims be paid in the usual
manner. The mot ion carriea.
It was moved bbl Scott and s econ.ded by ~ber,sviller that the City accept -the guarantee on the cast stony sills, used at the eater Plant, The motion carried.
The ~~~~~e~r gave a report on the cost of Sanitary ~'evuer in the +la~eman dub.,
which had been figured at the request o~ ~a~"eway Stores. As considera'k~l.a amount
of this area is outside the City, only a portion of the cost oou~.~~,~be considered

.Aid in setta.ng up general plans for proposed ~~torm sewers in the city, after the
proposed plan has been ou~liried. The motion carried.
It was moved by Freebury and seconded by Ebersviller that any use of the City
Equipment to be paid for and a minimum charge deposit be made before equipment
is uded. `the motion car?~ied.
Alderman Leuthold reported an meeting of zoning comrnit~ee, on February 7th.
He stated t hat the meeting was peaceful, except f'or two protests. He also s tested
that the committee feels that they should ~~eve aonsidera~ion to a uniform
building code, and would like to have authority ~o work on it.
It was moved by Parker and seconded by:~~~bersviller that, the Zoning Committee
be authorized to set up and work on such a build~.ng code. the motion o~.rri~d.
It was moved and seconded we do now adjourn. The motion Qarried.
