Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

A ~peeial a~etin~ of the Ci-~y Couneil of the City of ~aurel~ Mantana~ was
held in the Council amber~~ and was called to order by Mayor J. J. Park~r~ at
7s3~ o~clock~ P.M.~ on Mondays November 3~ 1958.
Upon roll a~.7.1~ the following aldermen answered pre~en~a

The Minutes of the previous m~et3n~ of actober 21~ 19 8, were read. Motion
way made by Ebersviller and seaondesd by Menello that the mir~~-~e~ be approved as read.
Motion Gs~ried.
Mayor Parker called on Mr. Rod~~rs for a report on the (~arba~e yet-~.p' end
the feasibility of contr~c~ing out the Garbage. Mr. Rod~er~ ~av~a .full report and
stated that the committ~se had mete and reaomm~nd~d to ~h~ City Cotanca.l ghat we do not Qontr~et the G~rba~~ sit this times but ra~h~r wa~3.t until ~e can see hEaw ~h3.~ other
situ~,~~on W3.11. work out. M~ycrr P~r~er r~por~ed on the lamed needed for Garbage land
fil1~ end stated that three sites wire being considered. Mr. Rod~er~ suggested
that we wait for Mr. Brisk' arad a,~k h3.~ opinion on which of the three sites w~

Mr. ~radl~y reported on two situat~.ons that have ~o do with water tape
outaide o~ the Cit3~.
Library report for the month o~ ~ctob~r way presented. Motion way made by
Ruff and ~~conded by Rad~ers that this report be aceep~ed. Motion ea~ried.
Police repart~ for the month of October were presented. Motion w~,s made
by L~uthold ~,r~.d seconded by Eb~r~ville~ that these reports be approved. Motion

consideration. Motion wa,~ m~d.~, by Leuthold ar~d seconded by Freeburg th~.-~ these regue~t~ be granted. Motion ctarried.
Utter from C.M.Wood.a~~ fief of Pol~.~~ eras read. Motion was made by
Fre~bu~cy and ~econd~d by Eber~viller that this mater be referred to t~h~ Poliee~
purah~ing and f3nane~ commit~ee~. Motion Qarried.
Mx. L~uthold made a report on the street sweeper, ~rhich has a balance; owing;
o~ ~3~200.40. Ater much discussion on phis matt~r~ mot3.on w~.s m~cle by Fre~b anel
seconded by Eber~viller that ~ street sweeping dis~riet be are~t~d~ and ~ss~es~ments
made ~o tho~~ that haci ~h~ advan~~ge of the aweeper. Mot3.on earri~d,
dam Tinne~ and Jinn Bare r~por~ed ghat they were having trouble with the
heater at the Sew~~ Disposal Plant. Af~~r disau~sion~ this matter was turned over ~o the City Engineer. Marion w~,s made by Ruff send ~eeonded by Leuthold that the
engineer have the authority to pureha~e a new h~a~er. Motion carried.
A c~uestic~n was brought up about paying tie employes higher rats of pay
thr they normally receives i~ they are asked t4 work another employee's fob. ~~a~rell
reported on what was a~k~d for by the menu ~d also r~port~d on the pay se~1.e i.n Bi113.ngs. St ~ra~ brought to the a~ten~ion of the City Council that it would rn~,k~
