A Special ~e~t3.ng o~ the City Council of the City of I,aurel~ Montana,
was held in the =council ~h~nber~, and was cal3.ed to order by Mayor J. J. Parer,
at 7 :30 0 ~ clm ck~ P.~., a~ ~'hiar~tday, June 12, ig58.
Upon taking roll ea11, the following aldermen answered present:

This meeting was eal].ed pritri.arily' ~o meet with the city Eimployee€~ ~t
their request to the Council. in writing, signed by the Secretary of the Union,
Mr. James Bare. -
Mr. Beslanwitch made the motion, ~econd~:d b~ Eb~r~~r3.ller that the Mayor
appoint ~ committee to me~~ with these mena and bring their requests to the regular Council Meting on Tuesday' Jung 17, 19 8. Motion Carried. 1~1rr. Parker
then appointed the following committee, one alderman from each wards
Jake Ruff, First Ward
J. E. Freeburg, Second Ward
John Be~lanwiteh, Third Ward Roy Horning, Cha3.rman, Fourth Ward.
Mr. Horning then called a meeting of this eonunittee with the employees
for Monday evenin~~ June 16th, at 7:30 o~elock, P.M.
Nfr. T,BUthvld stated th~.t the Engineer ~ s office hid been .sing a typ~wr3.ter
that belongs to I~r. Thcama~ L. Bradl~;y~ our City Attorney, and stated that they desired to purchase this typewriter. The asking price for this m~.ehin~ is ~27C1.OQ.
Lotion was made by Beslanwiteh and seconded by Ebersv ller that this matter be
turned over to the pureha~3.ng corr~mmittee wish authority to act. Motion -Carried.
Air. L~uthold ~,sk~d permission to leave the State before the new ~o~ncil
Meeting. Motion was made by Horning and seconded by Be~lanwitch that this permission be granted. Motion 'Carried.
Mr. Leuthold stated that Mr. Lathom had talked to him regard3.ng the
investing of ~orrae surp].u~ money. He Mated that at the time we first started
3nv~sting s~arplu~ funds, they were gringin~ quite a bit more interest than they
are now. He su~g~sted that possibly the City could invest 3.n Certificates of Deposit which will possibly pay 2~, provided that the bank wi11 accept ratan cipal
Funds.
Mr. Parker stated that the City was ge~ng to place garb~g~ racks arotand
the business district within the new few days.
Mr. Bradley stated that Mrs. Trem1~ City Treasurer, w~.s go~.ng to petition
the ~ouneil for back pay.
Mr. Menel3.o stated s that at this meeting he would like to ask the
Council for a vote of confidence regarding Hick Throm~s employment with the pity.
Motion was made by L;euthold and s~cQnded by Monello ghat ~iek~~ servie~~ be
contin~.~d i~d~finitely, and requested a unani~ou~ vote. Motion carried unan3ariously.
There being no fuz°ther business to comp before the council at this tine,
Motion was made and seconded that the m~~tin~ be ad~otarned until the next regular
meeting to be held on June 17~ 1958. Motion Carried.
