A regtx].ar meeting of the pity Council of the City of Laurels Montana, was
held in the Co~zr~cil Charnb~;rs, and way called to order by Mayor J. J. Parker, at, 7:30
otclock, P.M., on Tuesday, March !t~ 198.
Upon ro11 call the following aldermen ans~rer~d present:
Ira D. Rodgers A. E. Leuthold J. E. Freebury
Roy Horning E. H. Ebersviller Jake Ruff
Walter Menello John Beslanwitch
The Minutes of the previous meeting w~r~ read. Nation was made by Horning end seconded by Leuthold that the minutes b~ approved as read. Motion harried.
Mrs. Markin Ntagnus and Jamey D. Huff appeared before the Council to ask that
a water main be put to their prop~rt~r. As these persons are not able to pay cash for
this water mains it was suggested by Mr. Bradley, t~ ty Attorney, that the property
owners involved petition ~Ghe City to create Special Improvement District No. 87, and petition the County also.
Motion was made by ~'reeb~y and seconded by Le~.thold th~.t we consider the
S.I.D. X87 provided a petition be pr~sent~d to the Council signed by the majority of
the property owners involved. Motion Carried.
Mr. Huff then respectfully requested that the City adwertige for bids on lots eleven (iii through (15) in block (3) West `1Laurel Subdivision. It was suggested
that Mr. Parker appoint a committee to inve~tigat~ w~aether or not it was desirable
to sell th~;se 1ots~ and to report at the nExt ~ouneil Meting. Mr. Parker thin appointed
Mr. Freebury~ Mr. Rodgers, Mr. Ruffs Mr. Rathbun and Mr. Parker.
Mr. Huff requested that the Council wai..ve temporari7.g the cods governing sidewalks curbs and gutter where he intends to build a warehou$~. He stated that
he would be glad to sign a statement promising to put these a.n when the area gets
built up.
Victor Vogel appeared before the_Cotaneil to request a copy of the new
building code.
Mr. Ralph Lumsdon appeared before the Co~cil with some questions regarding
this same aod~.
This being the dime and place for the opening of the s~alEd bids as adver-

approved for payment. Motion harried.

Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Application from Leon Foote regarding City Employment was read. Motion
was made by Beslanwitch and seconded by Horning that this application be referred
to the Water Commissioner. Motion Carried.
Water report for the month of February was presented. It was moved by
Horning and seconded by Rodgers that this report be accepted. Motion Carried.
Discussion was held concerning raising the arno~ant of the Water Deposits.
Motion was made by Freeb~ry and seconded b~ Men.ello that in the futures Water Deposits
-}Zell be in the amount of ~l(~.00 ~ and to draw no interest. Mr. Bradley to draw up
Ordinance No. 518. Motion Carried.
After discussion of repairs needed at the house at the Sewage Disposal Plant
Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Rodgers that this house be repaired to b~
paid for from the Sewer Users Fund. Motion Carried.
Ruff stated that tie pity of Laurel should have a compulsory retirement age
limit. Tt was suggested that this matter be tabled until the next meeting. Motion was made by duff and seconded by Horning that Mr. Bradley draw up (?rdin~nee IJo. ~19~
governing the retirement a.g~. Motion carried.
Beslanwitch again brought up the subject of delinquent City Licenses.
Beslanwitch su~g~sted that something be done about Johnston Lumber Company
having ].most a City block of Parking space. Motion was made by Ebersvill~r and seconded by B~slanwitch that this be referred to the Street Committee. Motion Carried.
Mr. Horning requested that Mr. Br~.d.ley draw Ordinance No. 521 as an
amendment to Ordinance No. 297 governing firear~ns~ to include B.B. gun. and Archery
equipment. This Ordinance ~o be pr~ser~ted at the next meeting.
Mr. Rodgers stated that certain persons were interested in renting Riverside.
It was suggested that these persons b~ asked to attend the next Council meeting or
call at the office and make a propo.~al.
Mr. Bradley again recommended that a date be Set for a final insp~;¢tion of
the water plant.. Tt was moved by T~euthold and seconded by Menello that the date for this inspection be set March 18th, at ~.:oo otclock P.M. Motion Carried.

Gentlemen:
On November l~ 19~7~ we received a letter embracing the conditions
of a final. settlement on our contract for the construction of yon new water plant. Our letter of January 6, 1958, approved those conditions
subject to the modification as recommended by N'~orrison and Ma~.rl~ an
December 19~ 7-957
We have been assured that the Final estimate has been ready for
your approval for some time. We have also been assured that the plant is functioning as expected and that our part of the contract hay been
completed in fu11.
Inasmuch a~ your attorney and the attorney for youz~ insurance
company have informed us that the lawsuit involving Dorine Webster
and the City of Laurel should have no effect on the final settlement
of our contract, we can see no reason for continued withholding of
funds. Therefores we request that final payment be made to us as
soon as possible.
