J. Parker, at 7s30 o~clock~ P.M., Qn Tuesday, February 5th, 1958• GuEStg of the Gity council vaere asked to introduce the~selv~s at this time. They were Sandra Moran,, Patty !Gross, Richard H~ames~ and Kenny Knight. . Minutes of the previous meeting were read. St Baas moved by Horning and seconded by L~uthold that these minutes be approved as read with the ~:xception of the one "Not vote by Fr~ebus~y. should have been ~tNa" on Resolution No. 1 31, instead of Resolu~io~ No. 1032. Motion Carried: Upon ro11 calf the follo~i.n~; aldermen answered present: Ira D. Rodgers A. E. ~,euthol.d Roy Horning J. E. Freeburg E. H. Ebersviller Jake Ruff John Beslan~ritch Library report for the month of January was presented. Tt was moved by Horning and seconded by Leuthol~l that this report be approved. Motion Carried. Application to open up a new flower shop at 301 East N~ain~ was presented. This application way accompanied by a check for license fee, and ~~.s signed by Mrs. V. C. Knoll and Dorothy Ostwald. Motion was made by Rodgers and seconded by Ruff to approve this ~.pplication. Motion Carried. Letter was read from Mr. Al Klingler, Montana Municipal League, regarding licer~g~ fees, and also regarding an anticipated raise of 65¢ per person on league fees, to be paid by the City. Motion was made by Beslanwitch and seconded by Horning that the entire license ordinance be revised, ar~d a cornmitt~e be appointed by the Mayor to draw up another ordinance to be presentee) to the council for appreaval. ueeonded by Horning. Motion Carried. Mr. Parker then appointed Mr. Be~lanwitch, Mr. Horning, Fr~ebury, Mr. ~ber~viller, as this committee to work with the Mayor and the City Attorney. Motion way made by Fbersviller and seconded by Rodgers that this committee be approved. Motion !Carried. Report of the Police Jude for the month of January was presented. It Baas moved by Ebersviller ~.nd seconded by Ruff that these reports be accepted. Motion Carried. Reports of the Polies Chief and the Patro]men were presented. Tt was ~ov~d by' Eber~viller and seconded by fluff that these reports be accepted. Motion Carried. RESOLUTION N0. 103 Resolution No. io35, being a resolution transferring certain Tunas of the City of Laurel was presented. Zt was moved and seconded that this resolution be approved.. Upon taking roll call vote, all aldermen present voted f'Ayer~~ and Resolutimn No. 1035 was declared passed and approved. Mr. L~uthold called to the attention of the City Council ghat the sidewalk throughout the City should be repaired. Eber~viller ~tat~d that since the fire at the Refinery, it would b~ a good idea to revive the idea of a rural fire department ~~t-up. Mr. Chet Scotty a member of the Fire 13epartment~ appeared before the Council and su~~ested th~.t this mater b~ tabl~:d ~uritil the neart meeting when the Council could ~xp~ct a recommendation from the Firs D~part- ment. Mr. Be~lanwi~eh brought up the question of the ~City~s insurance. Mr. Beslanwitch Mated that he had made a complete ~tarvey of the insux°ance, and he sates ~ha~ he finds that ire are paying ~3,30l~.62 per year. I~Ir. Beslanwitch Mated that he would like to make a motion rescinding the motion that he made on January 7th, 19a~$, to place the insurance out for bids. seconded by Horning and the motion carried. Beslan~3tch made a motion that the Mayor ~,nd Council 3.nstruct the downstairs office to keep an insurance ledger. Seconded by Horning, and the motion carried. Mr. Bradley Mated that a date should be set to tY~oroughl.y inspect the dater Plant officially. Mr. Rathbun reported on a claim that dogs Mot appear ~o have been paid. It was moved by Freeb~wry and seconded by Ruff that all warranty and claims be checked to tr~r to find out whether or not this claim has been received or paid. Motion harried. Mr. Beslanwitch requested the use of the City Jail. for an initiation of the new members of the ~.0 ~C 8. Motion was ~nad~ by ~euthold and seconded by Horning that -~hi~ be allowed. Motion Carried. I'fir. Farker reported briefly on the meting that h~ attended in Butt. It was suggested that a~ we have in oar hands a p~:tition signed by most o~ the property own~r~ involved in a blacktopp~trzg project, that we start proeeeding~ inunediately to push this through.
