A rcguiar meeting of the City Council o~ the City af' Laurel, Fontana,
was held in the Council ~~'nambers and was called to ors~er by I~layror J. J. Parker,
a~ 7:3f' o~clock, P.IVT., on Tuesday, Septerlber 1, 199.
Upon roll call the following aldermer: answered present:
J.E.Freebzaxy John Beslanwitch Jacob Ruff Steve Romee

Thy minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion was made by ~u~f
and seconded by Beslanwitch that t1ic; riinute5 be approves! as read. Notion carr ~.ed.
Clinton Anderson and UJ}ri. Reir~~.ardt appeared before the council regarding
a fee for mileage for Nlr. Reinhardt. He stated that he had taken a ~30.~Q cut per
month #rom the t~~_ty off' Billings. N1r. Rein.har~tt gets ~6C.f~0 per month mileage for maki.n~ mi~.k inspections of approximately 85 producers around T~illings. T,aurel has
approximately After lengthy discussion, motion way made by Muff and seconded
by Romee that the I~iayor appoint a committee to investigate this matt~:~ and report

by ~eslanwitch anal seconded b~ Romee tY?at these reports be approved. Motion carried.
Darold Bender, George TacCorrnick, Bob T~Testover, and Meyer Harris appeared
before t'~e catzncil regarding a decision on their alley. T7ick reported that the
cost would be abattit *60.G~Q per lots and possibly a little more, if treated timber zs used. Also guestiozz arose as to whetYi.~r or not the City wnul~ ~o a1c~n~ with
i-ts share of the cost on ~_ts ~'o~r lots involved. T~otion was made by Beslanwi'cch end,
seconded by Frank th~.~ the City Stand ~_ts share of the rost. I~Zotion carried.
~'arker reported on the Nutting ditch. The county surveyor will see what
can be done about this,
Re~~ort taus made on the riew Police Cox. system to be set up raking the
man on. the day shi~'t responsible for the proper care o~ tie car,
Parker reported that we have a~;10~000.00 loan for en~ineerin~; on a
proposed 3~~,~~'~.~?~ Sewage Disposal Plant. Motion was made by Kuff and. seconded ~y Beslanwitch that this loan be accepted. Motion carried.
Report oxi water contract on Maryland Lane. P1rs. Orndorff wi1'1 not sign.
It was the dPCision of the Council that the praj~et ~;o ahead without her si~n~.ture.
I~iotion was made by Beslan~aitch and seconded by Ruff that the new contract be
signed without her. P-lotion carried.
Report made on the fact that Leslie Stoltz runs his sewer into an open
ditch. Them have been several. calls on this, T~Zatter was re~'erred to the aldermen
from the First ward, Mo~c~on was made by ~'r~eburv~ to this effect, seconded by
~eslan~ritch. Aiotic~n carried.
From the property north of T"Zrs. Ingraham on Fi~;hth Avenue,, the sewer runs into the ditch. Motion was made by Frank and seconded by ~~ienry that this matter
also lie referred to ~,hP First ~~Tard Aldermen. l~iotion carried.
It was su~~;ested that the s~rimmin~ pool be closed on ~ept~mber Tst.
Beslanwi-~ch reported t1~.at Fred Hilgert had romplaa_ned about the insect
spray killing the honey locust trees.
Fraz~.k su~~ested that the pedestrian crassin~ lines be re-p~a.nted, and a sign. posted dt Vau hn Ragsdale5. Also stripe in front of Gardners drug instead
of at Chapman~s. Cauestion of the diagonal Grassing from th.e Thriftway. Tt was
the decision of the Council that all cross wa1.k questions be referred to the T'olice
~ommi.ttee .
It was reported that Mr. Cook of the lti7ontan~. Pol~rer is not quite r~aay with quota~~_ons on lights on seventh avenue.
Parker reported that -l:he City employees had Sealed the Airport run-way
as Krug~s were broken down for two days and could not supply the city with
materials for -Lhe street.

Dick reporters that there have begin several complaints from business men

Motion was made by Freeburg and seconded by Beslanwiteh that these
claims be allowed. Motion carried.
Haro3d Bender asked whither or not he could have until. next year to
replace the sidewalk he eras warned about last year. It was the decision of the
Council that this should be taken care of as soon as possible.

'I~.e undersi~nPd proper~y owners hereby request the City to aid them
in regard to the problems created by the sugar feet dump on the south side of the Ci~Ly. The sugar beet dump has crewed many problems far the property owners
surrounding it. Tne d.u;~t is one; there is one outside toilet on the property, and
in addition the beet trucks damage th.e roads in the immediate areal.
Tt is to be ~urth~r noted th~.t other large trucks use Railroad Street
as a truck by-pass and y~~ the property owners must bear a3.1 the cost of repair and maintenance. The petit~on.ers duly request th~.t some hc~1p be given to them
by meeting with the sugar beet people and truck owners ~.n abt~,inin.g some relze~ for
the property owners in this area.

the City attorneys and the Mayor to meet with the people involved. Ruff made a motion to this ~f~ect, seconded by Kaiser. Motion carried.
it was reported that there is an autdoar toilet on the M~tz~;er property.
Parker to talk to TZr~. T?~~vis~ and dec~.dec~whether ar not Met2ger could pay Mrs.
Davis to tap on to her serer line.
Dick reported that possibly a used vehicle cou7.d be purchased for the
en~ineerin~ departments ~a~.d a near ~-ton truck purchased to be used as a service
truck.
~u.estion of the used typewriter, and adc~in~; machine was brought up by the
Cit;~ Clerk. P-~otian was made by B~sl~nwitch and seconded by Frank that this matter be referred to the Purchasing com•!u.ttee. Motion carried.
Dick reported on the chipping and sealing districts.
