1~ regular meeting of the Cit~r Counca~l of the Ci1:y of "Laurel, TTontana, was
held in the Council chambers and was called to order by T~iavor J, J. Parker at ?:30
o' clock, P.T~?., on Tuesda~T, August 1959.
Upon roll. call the fallowing aldermen answered present.

The minute s of the previous meeting were read. Notion was rriade by €3eslanwitch

~~1r. Clin.ton Anderson a~~eared taefore -the council in regard to the milk inspection problem. Parker reported on a meeting with the B~17.ings 'City (~~unci7 and
tn~m. Reinhardt. It eras suggested ~h~.t the milk producers pay a fee cif 4~5.OQ per year,
to dc~fra~T part of -the cost of Wm. Rein'.~ardt's mileage

petition be accepted. Lotion carried.

petition be accepted. Motion carried.

Petit3_on was pr~~ented a.s follows: ~nT~' the undErsi~;ned property owners,
hereby petition and consent that the City Caunci~ of the pity of Laurel create a
sprink~in~ district from the a~.1ey between sixth ~ Seventh streets on Wyoming Avenue tc~ the intersection of ~,ighth and W~~oming, containing more than 90~ signatures.
Motion was made b~ Ruff and seconded by Kaiser that this petition be accepted' providing
the property owner would consent to pay for the ~i1:1 gavel, and at least one-half the
cost of this work in advance. T~totion carried.
Monthly reports were pr~s~nted for a~~roval as .follows: Water report; Financial Deport; Treasurer's report; Cash $alance; Trial Balance; Librar`T Report;
deport of the Police Judge; Feports of the Patrolmen. T~ioti.on was made by Ruff and
seconded by Bes1.~.n~,:~r~_teh that these reports be approved. Motion carried.

Re conunendation
Purchase this Sc&AD Halsey Taylor cooler fountain (same make as another owned
by the City) and have it ?nstalled by Vie Hargett (Buridy h~.s had most of the City's
work) as soon as ~os~ible.
Mo-~ion was made by Bes2anwitch and seconded by Romee that the committee's
recomrr~endation be accepted. Motion carried.
Application from Ralph A. Sezin for a pasitian on the Police Force was read.
Motion was made by t3eslanwitch and secone~..ed by Kaiser that this application be placed
on file. notion carried.
Report of the pity Treasurer stating th~.t the City is ~7.Ja.3.7q short o~
pay3.n~ for the spraying for the insects. As provision had been made a~ an earlier meet-
ing for ~lOQ.00, motion. was m~.de by Freebury and seconded by wank that the balance of

Beslanwitch reported on a meeting of the Airport Commission« It was
suggested that the Laurel Fly~.n~; Service take care of the sale of Gasoline, and pay
the City 2¢ per gallon on ever~r ~a11on sold' for the concession.
Freeburg presented a claim for fees for wire inspections c~.at~.ng bacl~ to
193. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Romee tlia~ these peop~.e be written a
letter, end an attempt made rho collect th~;se fees owed to tYie City. Motion carried.

soon as possible and that no water taps be allowed without the ~"7.~.G0 fey in advance.

In connection with the above mentioned ordinancE sett3.n~ the salary of
the Mayor a~ 101.17 per months Beslanwiteh stated that many trips were called for by
the Mayor and he Would like to propose some sort of gasoline al7.oti~ranc~ for him. After
disrussian, motion was made by ,'+~ank and seconded by Besl.anwitch that l~Tayor Parker be
al.lotiaed ~1~.0~ per month for gasoline a1.~.owance. F~Totion carried.
Beslan+aiteh asked .for permission to Leave the State. Kaiser asked for
pp~°mzssiorz to leave t?~e State, and ~eebury asked far permission to leave the State.
Frank made the mot~i_on, seconded by Romee that this permzss~_on be granted. Motion
carried.

Upon re-convening the meeting, recommendation was made by B~slanwitch that Bid ~l be accepted. Seconded by F~eebur~r, and niotifln carried.
Romee reported that the Comznittes on the Library rood question had not yet
made a decisicn.
Parker reported on complaints on blacktop an Cedar avenue.
Parker reported on Garbage Dump
Parker reported on Railroad Street
Parker reported that he had not ~.s yet found a City Engineer
Several of the aldermen present stated th~.t they would like Rathbun to
reconsider his resignation.
Kaiser reported that there T,~ere 23 cads on the South Side. A~£ter discussion
motion w'as made l~~r and seconded that t~1~.s matter be referred to the Police Department.

Parker announced a special meeting, on budget' for August 1y~9.
Parker anno~~ced a special meeting for opening bids ~'or t~ugust b, 1959.
Parker announced a special meeting to set mi.11 levies on August 1.~, 1959.
Parker announced a special. meeting for opena.ng o~ bids on August 20, 1y~9.
It eras announced ~ ater that, according to the Ci-~~r Attorney, tie bids could be opened at the r~~;ular meeting on August 28~ 1959.
Frank stated that A7.ex Bek~m was opposed to the charge of X1.00 per l.ot for
insect controls and s-ta~ed that Behm announced he would not pay' this charge. It eras
the ~ decision of the council that na exceptions could be made.
There being no further business to come before the council at this time
motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting b~ adjourned. l~Iotian carried.
