Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
4._, Mr. Rodgers stated that he would like future consideration on the
problem of the lsw intersection at Fourth 5txeet and Alder Avenues in back o~ the Farmers Union Co-op.
Mr: Lputh~ld and Mr. Rodgers made certain comments on the question of
Storm Sewers and the nPees~~ty of having same before food streets can be con-
s•tructed and maintained, Mr. Leuthold stated that hP would like to commend the
Laurel Outlook. on the favorable publicity that had been received on this matter. P~Is~. Leuthold also suggested that he would like to have the engineer?s offics~
prepare some statements for the press and 1e~.flet information that could be passed
out to the homes.
Lowell reported on the unsafe condition of the 01.d Safeway' Buiyding owned
by Dr. McCauley, and quoted parts of a letter that he would like to wr -fie to i3r. McCauley. Lowell requested opinions from the City council regarding how strong he c~;-:~
could go toward getting the building in a sa~'e condition. Motion was made by
Leuthold and seconded by Ruff ghat the City Engineer be allowed to write tc~ the
awner~ as Building Inspectors requesting that the building b~ rega3red properly.
Motion carried.
Mr. Throm reported on plan, and problems concerning certain aspects of the Sprinkling District planMed in the spring.
Recognition was given to Mr. Rodgers, by Mayor Parker, and the
entire council pxesent, far the fine wor~nanship and the t3.me and expense he had
f ~ gone to, to present. the City o~ Laurel with the new City Clerkts desk. Mr. ~euthold
made the motion, secca~ded by' Beslanwi~ch that the Council a~ a wxiol.e recognize Mr. Rod~Ers for the ~aond~rful contribution to the Clerks office. Mayor Parker presented
an engraved placque from Dorothy P. Bundy, to be placed on the desk in appreciation.
Motion carried.
