Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Beslanwitch that the minutes be approved as reed with the exception of a change in dates of the Montane Municipal League meeting. Motion carried. The following reports were presented for approv~.l; Cash ~.eport, Clerk's Trizl Balance, Treasurer's reports, report of the Police Judge, report of the Patrolmen, budgs-~ report, revenue report, and. library report. Motion was made by Freeburg and seconded by Kaiser that this Resolution be adopted. Upon roll call votes all aldermen present ~roted 'Aye",, a.nd said resolution No. 11~~.5~ was declared passed a.nd adopted. Application for Beer and Liquor License for the Lat~r~l Bar, with a check in the amo~znt of ~300.Q0 attached way presented. Motion was made by Rvff and seconded gay Fre~bury that this application be approved. Motion carried. Application for beer and li_quar license from the Cheerio Bar, with ~D300.00 cash attached was presented. N.i.ation was made by Haft anct seconaea by Tr~ebury that -phis a~p].ication be approved. Mfltion carried. Ax~plication for Beer and Liquor License for Slick's Inn, with a cheek in the amount of x$300.00 attached was presented. Motion was made by Beslanwitch and seconded by Henri that this be approved. Lotion carried. A~:.plications for ~,rork in the City of Laurel signed by Robert Juncan~ Martin Zawrenz and Gary Christian were presented to the council. Motion was made Ruff anc?. seconded by Kaiser that these applications be elated and placed an ii1.~. Motion carried. T,etter was read from the Chamber of Goz;;merce in I-~ed Lodge regarding the placing of a banner or a street sign in Laurel, advertising Red ~,e~ge to the tourists. A delegation from Red Lodge to appear at the council Meeting later in the evening. Ruff reported that a truck .for the 'ark can be rented for 8¢ per mile incluain~; the gasoline for said vehicle. He stated that the Park Committee had accepted this offer. I I Minutes of the City Council of Laurel -Harold Gollins appeared before the council to ask about. his applicata.on for a relief policeman for the summer. He requested permissa.on to ride with the patrolmen on their rounds and Learn the routine. After much diseu~sion, during which Frank stated that he ciid not feel that this should be allowed because of the liability to the City in case of an accident or other incident in~~olvin~; the Police and Mr: Collins. It was decided that this could not be allowed. Thy question of getting money for the police fund from the Light Fund and other departments was referred to the police committee and the finance committee. -Frank reported on the Civil I~fense Frogram. Dave asked whether it was a State Law or a City Ordinance which governs the closing of Bars on Election days. `1'he City Clerk explained ghat because of the State T~egislative action last ,years it was no longer necessary for the bars to close on an~r election other than a General Primary or general Election day. PETITIQN Petition to bring in Blocks y, IDS 11 and 12 of the Ziourth avenue Subdivisions and Blocks 7, 8, and 9 of the Mountain Vista Subdivision was presented. Motion was made by Ruff ~ncz seconded by ~~ave that this petition be accepted, and resolution No. 11.6 be adopted. Motion was made by Fr~eebury and seconded by Henry that this ReSOlution be adopted. Upon taking roll ca1.l vote all aldermen present voted "!~y'~"~ and said Resolution was declared passed anti adopted. The delP~ates from Red Lodge then appeared before the council to e~alain exactly what they woli.ld propose to do in regard to a banner type advertising, After discussions motion was shade by Ruff and ~:econded by ~reebury that this matter should come up before the Ma~ror, the City En~in~er~ and the Chamber of Commerce here. Motion carried. .Henry reported setreral complaints on dogs during the last week. Motion was made by ?~.i.ff and seconc~Pd by Herman Frank that two old trucks ~elon~in~r to the City of Laurel be traded to the Krug Brothers :for x$100.00 worth of gravel. One old Tord and one old Chevrolet. Motion carried. Nave requested a petition .for street sprinkling work on f'if'th street from Alder to Elm. P~~~TITION Petition for creating a sprinkling; dtstric~ on l~inth Strut from First Avenue to rif'th Avenue was presented, carrying signatures of q1.3~% signatures of property owners. Motion was made by ~~uf~' and seconded by have that this pe-~ition be accepted. T~Iotion carried. Freeburg as Chairman of the Finance committee,, and the committee which wi11 meet with the Gity Union recommended that the City offer a 10¢ per hour wage increase for all regular City Employees. Union to either reject or accept this nffnr_ Recommendation was made by Freeburg and seconded by Ruff that a vote be put to the people to put on a spECial mill levy for the purchase of equipment. This eq~a.ipment to be budgeted for at this ti.me~ in case this levy is voted in. Motion was made by Henry and seronc3ed b~T Kaiser that the recommendations of the committees be accepted. I~lotion carried. Clay Greening; and Dominic Ficci appeared before the council 'with a fire hazard. problem caused by shacks ar_d trash in back of 516 ~i~ashington and in ~~,he alley. Motion ~aa~ made by Ru_E'f and seconded by Henry ghat the City Engineer check into this matter. Motion carried. It was discussed when the swimming pool. wild open. rreebury stated that there was only money enough in the fund for two weeks. Tt tras decided that the pool be offi~,ially opined on June I9~h, weather permitting. Dick asked the'couneil ~`or permission to leave the State to attend a two-week Marie Camp. Motion was made by Fre~bury and seconded by Ruff that this be allowed. Motion carried. Dick asked that 'the council allow a subscription to Zoning bulletinat a fee of X10.00 per year. Mo~ion was made by Freeburg and seconded by Kaiser that this be allowed. Motion carried. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Mayor Parker reported that the Mate Entomolo~i~t was here Monday, and made an inspection prior to recommending chemicals, etcetera for iizsect control. He wi7.1 be back around June 27th. The City to contact the bounty and try to gel the spraying machine. Ruff asked r.~hAther or not any one had had any reports on ~or~eign matter coming through`:the water main. dick reported one. The water office had several.
