HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 12.19.1961Minutes of the City Council of Laurel December lq,~1961 A regular meeting of the City Council of the pity of Laurel, Montana, way held in the Council Chambers and was called to order by ~Iaym John Beslanwitch at 7:3~ o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, ?ecernb~r 19, 1961. Upon roll call, the following aldermen answered present: Jacob Ruff Steve Romer Z. Gass Henry Kaiser, Jr. Roy Edw~.rds Kenneth Olson Harold ~Oiilson Cecil ATave The m3nut~~ of the previous ~n~eting were read. Mot3.on was made by Kaiser and seconded by Romee that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. Two clai.ris were presented for payment the end o.~ ~h~ month. Drake Herne' ~s claim in the amount of ~6~,1~51.It~. Motion wa.s made by Ruff and seconded by Kaiser that this clai,r~ be a~~proved. Motion carried. Claim from Housing and home Finance Agency in the amount o~ ~7,~00.00 Baas presented. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that this claim b~ allowed. Motion carried. Certain reports of the city were pres~nt~:d a~ follows: Cash Balance, Treasurert~ reports, clerk's Budget report and Revenue report. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that these reports be approved. Motion carried. Gene Ma~dew, Resident engineer from Black and Veatch, appeared before the council to make his monthly report on the pro~r~ss of the new Sewage Disposal Plarst. City Clerk asked for an estimate of approximately then amount that wi11 be needed for expense in the next 91 days and ~Ghe next 182 days with a view to investing the money that is not needed during this tame. ~`iaydew stated that the Plant was a littl.~ .head o~ schedule. Ruff stated that we have a buyer for some $t~~l beams for ~2~.(30 each. H~ recommended that we sell these four beams. Motion was made by Kaiser and s~cond~d by Gass that the recommendation be accepted. Motion carried. fluff reported on four surplus motors. dome time ago we could not dispose of these motors. He stated that they are worth a good deal more than has been offered, but there are no buyers. He recorr~mend~d that these motors be sold for ~45a•~~• Motion was made by Kais~;r and seconded by Olson that the recommendation of the eommitte~ be accepted. Motion carried. ' 'After discussion of what the pity co~.ld do in order to collect their delinquent ta~te8 on tax-tile property, this matter was turned over to th~a finance committee for investigation, and this committee to work with Mr. Bradley.
