A Special meeting of the City Cot~nciZ of the ~i.ty a~ La~re2, Montana, was
held in the Council Ch€amber,~ and was called to order by Mayor J. J. Parker for the
purpose ~f presenting the following letter of resignation.
Upon roll call the follo~rir~~ aldermen answered present:

Gentlemen:
This i~ to inform you ghat I have decided to accept empZoyrnent with the U.S.Food
and Drug Ad~inistrativn.
After much thought and deliberation, I have cow to tl~~± conclusion that this position
offers me greater security and un7.3.mi.ted opportunity for advancement,
I wish to thank the Mayor and ~3.ty ~o~ncil for the splendid cooperation, courtesy
and consideration yoga have shown me during my tenure ~.s City Engineer. My work3.ng
conditions have been most congenial and T will highly reco~m~nd this job to all
propspective engineers.

Dick stated that h~ would be glad to come back for about a week aid work
with the new man if we should be able to get one right av~~ay. He made the deei$ion
because of the worry over whether or not he would have a ~e~b every twto y~ar~. H~ states that them is never anything certain about it. Dick i~ to report to work
on his new job on April 10~h.
After much diseussior~~ F`r~ebury made the motion that thy: Council offer dick
I a raise in salary to $650.0 per months and asked that ~iek wait until our next
council meeting on April ~.th before making the resignation final. ~o it was decided
not to accept hip resignation at this t3.tne, but that if he was still of the same opinion on April )nth, his resi~na~Gion would be ac~ept~d without further question.
Also Freeburg asked that the Mayor be given thy: authvritg of offer a new
engineer a start3.ng sa7.ary of 5~~.~0 per month, a ~25.0~ per month ra3.se in six month~~
another ~2s•0~ raise in another six mont2~s~ a.~d 50.(30 per month after the second
year. Motion seconded b~ ilex Henry. Motion carried,
There being ~o further business to cote be~or~: the council at this time,,
mat3.on was duly made and seconded that the meeting b~ adjourned. Motion carried.
