M. , on Tuesdays November 20, 1962. Upon taking roll ca11~ the folloGaing aldermen answered present: Jacob Ruff Steve Romee Kenneth C71son Gerald Gass Harold Wilson Cecil l~Tave Henry Kaiser Roy Edwaxds ~'h~ minutes of the previous meeting were read. Mv~ion was made by Olson acid seconded by Kaiser that t~~e mirnz~es stand approved as read. lotion carried. Letter was read from the City of Columbus, Georgia. TViotion-was made by Ru~f and seconded by Kaiser that this letter be placed on file. Motion carried. Letter way read from the ti~`est school F T A Association. City Clerk was instructed to answer this 1~tter. It was repor~Ged that there being protests to the creation of special Improvement District ,~92 in the amount or 61/~ action be t~.ken by the Council to kill the district. Alderman Ruff made this motion, seconded by Kaiser. Motion carried. Paul Gjefle appeared before the Council. to asT~ that 1_i_ve music be per- mitted in the local baxs for New Year's Eve. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by f~lson that permission be gr.antPd. I~~Zotion carried. Nave was asked to report on shelves for the Library, and also four cYiairs. T~~ere being sufficient budget for these items, it was tl~e recommendation of the committee that these be purchased. Ruff then made the motion 'that the council authorize th.e purchasing com¢nittee to purchase the shelving; and chairs with the approval of the Library Board. Seconded by Edwards, and the motion carried. The T~:ayor reported that 't;YYiarles Rodgers had. nc>t yet been paid :Cor his right-of-way, and that the contractor. had~torn up some of the street that had not been replaced. Gene i~Iaydew and the street committee to aleck on this. Gaston appeared before th.e council to ask th~j.t certain traffic signs be repaired or replaced. pity Engineer to take care of these. Ruff stated that six months ado Lai hired an engineer, and that the council had agreed nn a raise of ~25.b0 per mont'.n after this period. NTotion wa.s i~h~n made by Ruff and seconded by-Olson that the ~25.~0 raise be granted to be ef~'ective November 2~th. Motion carried. Ruff reported t'_~:at expenses wi11 have -L-o be cut down in all departments. Olson reported- on ;]_igrits at Riverside Park. .Fie stated that a time clock could be purchased, or that tYiey could be turned on manually. It was the corrunittee~s recommendation that ~mineth be informed of the activities going on at Riverside Park, and he would turn them on at dusk, and out at 10 T'. T~Z. City Clerk to give Emineth a list of these activities. Notion carried. ti~Tilliam Gibbs, representative of Black & ~Teatch, appeared before the Council, with Gene ~Zaydew, to report t?~~at I~ir. Henne, who was expected at the meeting was not able to be here. After much discussion, Ruff suggested treat the Council. try to mach F-Ienne T,~tednesday and arrange a date for a personal meeting. Bentsen brought up the Subject of relief men for the Water Plant, and so north. There being no further business to come before the council at this session, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be acl.journed.
