November 9, 1962
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, NIontana, was
held in the Council Chambers, and was called to order kay T'resident of the Council,
Jacob ~~-Zuff, at 7 :30 0' clock, P. T~., on ~`riday, November 9, 1962.
Upon taking roll ca1:l~ the following aldermen answered present:
Jacob Ruff Harold TrTilson Cecil Nave P~oy Edwards
Kenneth Olson Henr~r Kaiser Gerald L. Gass
the T~7inutes of the last regular meeting of CSetober 16, 1962, were read. Motion was made by Kaiser and seconded k~sr Nave tl~~.at the minutes be approved as read.

The Minutes of the Special meeting of October 23, 1962, were read. P2otion
was made by Kaiser and seconded by Nave that tree mixiutes be approved as read. T~lotion
carried.
The Minutes of tY~.e Special meeting of November 5, l5'62, were read. Motion
was made by Nave and seconded by Kaiser that t},e minutes be approved as read. Motion
carried.
This being the time and place advertised for opening of bids on certain lots
declared surplus by the City of Laurel, the City Clerk was ca7_l~d on for these bids, which she proceeded to open as follows:

Resolution being seconded by councilman Edwards and upon taking roll call
vote, all aldermen voted "Aye", and said Resolution was declared passed and adopted.
This being; the time and place to present protests to Resolution of~Intention to create special Improvement District Dto. 92, City Clerk was asl~ed whether or not
there were protests received in her office. She reported receiving petitions with
protest of 61/ of t'rze property owners involved in the district. Several individuals
appeared before the Council to explain their views on this district;. After much dis=
cussion, motion was made by~ Olson and seconded by Gass that decis~_on on this district
be postponed until the next .regular rneeting on Tdovember 20, 1962, ~:o give persons who

signed the petition the right to ask that their names be witYidrawn from the pe-
tition if they s~ desired. Potion carried.
Request for dance dates for Riverside Ha11 signed by `the Billings
Mounted C~uadri~..le were presented. Notion was made by Kaiser and seconded by
~1son that these dates be approved and the hall rented. Motion carried.
Formal requests presented from David Frank and Hilmar Waage for par-
tial vacation were presented.
Certain reports o~ the 'City of Lalzrel were presented for approval as
follows: I-iealtYi Off'icer's Report, Librar~T Report, Treasurer's Report for Septem-
ber. P~?oti~n was made by Olson and seconded by Gass th.~.t these reports be approved.

Letter was read regarding a meeting at Montana `Mate t;ollege. After
some discussion motion w~.s made by Kaiser and seconded by Kaiser tYi~.t one from t~a~,~
water plant, and one otti~_er employee be allowed to attend. Motion carried.
Lease fir certain property now being used as a skating rink' and leased
by liargaret Leis Stegriy w~.s presented for approval. lotion was made by Nave arr~i.
seconded by Edwards that this lease be signed, for t~.e consideration of X17.29.
Motion carried,

Nave reported nn letter received from the School District regarding what tie School hoard considers excessive €;arbage and insect. control c}iarges.

City Engineer a~~.in asked for a raise for henry Philhower from ~p1.96
per hour to X2:11 per hour. beginning with November. Tuotion tiaas made by Olson and seconded by Pdwards that this request be granted. Motion Carried.
