M., on Tuesday, October 16, 1962. Upon taking roll cal1~ all the following aldermen answered present: Jacob Ruff Steve Romee Roy Edwards Gerald L. Gass Cecil F. Na=re Harold ?:Nilson F~enry ~;aiser Kenneth 01son The minutes o.f ~tti~e previous meeting were read. NTotion was made by Ruff and seconded by Nave that the minutes be approved as re~.d. Motion carried. Health ~~'ficer's report for the month of ~~eptember was presented. Motion was made icy t~lson and secon~.ed by Nave that this report be approved. T}~ey are holding back 10/ of this amount, and. have okayed payment of ~"31,7~~.~~• City ClErk reported that the Notice for Sale of lots was at the printeris. James Southworth appeared before t}ie Councils and he as Urel1 as the others reported o~ his problem which regards the covering of a large drain ditch. This, providing the cost of such will be held under Fifty Dollars per lot. 'Phis is a very hazardous ditch and unless covered may cost the lives of children. This is also very unsightly condition and is a disgrace to our city. As the School would be involved, but is at present outside tYle City limits, the City engineer asked that the Nlayor appoint a committee to meet with the School Board at tr~eir regular meeting on October 7.8, 1962, and ask that they come into the City L,:im~_ts. `Phe I~Zayor then appointed Roy Ingraham, President of the Junior ~h ~nber of Cormierce, James Southworth and Jacob Puff. Nave reported on the alley on the North ,Side between ~3irch and Cotton- wood. Nave stated that ohn Tubman would like to have the approximate cost of covering the Al~.er ditch. Gerald Gass asked permission to leave the state. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Kaiser that permi.,sion be granted. P~lotion carried. _ _ i Minutes of the City Council of Laurel City Engineer reported that Fienry Philhower had keen with the pity the required six months, and that re was to take his physical examination in the morning. 'City Engineer also requested that Philhower be given a raise in pay now, from the X1.96 to X2.11 per hour. This request brought on a discussion of Henry Strecker who was employed to work in tree Parks, but has been kept on over t]^e required six months. No':action was taken on the City Engineer's request, and the City G7_erk was instructed to make an appointment for Strecker to take his ~h;~sical examination.
