Chambers and was called to order by Mayor John Beslanwitch at `7x30 o'clock P.M.~ on Tuesday, October 2~ 1962. Upon taking roll c~.ll the following aldermen answered present: Jacob Ruff Harold T~Tilson Henry Kaiser Gerald T~. Gass Kenneth Olson Roy Edwards Cecil F. Nave The minutes of the previous meeting were re~.d. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Nave that the minutes be approved as read. PZotion carried. Upon taking roll call votes all aldermen present voted rrAye" and said resolution was declared passed and adopted. RESOLiJTION N0. 1221 RESC~L~UTION N0, 1221, BEING A RESOLUTION IRAN ~~;RRING C~,~.TAIN FUNDS OF THE CITY OF T,AiTR~~, MONTANA, was presented. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded- by Kaiser that this resolution be passed and adopted. Upon taking roll call votes all aldermen present voted "Aye", and s~.id resolution was declared passed and adapted. 4~rtain reports of the City of Laurel were presented as follows: _ Report of the Police Judge. Motion was made by Ulson and seconded by Nave that this report b~; approved. Motion carried. Library Report and Treasurer's Report were presented. P~lotion was made bar Ruff and seconded bar Olson that these reports b~ approved. Motion carried. Mayor Beslanwitch stated that Bernhardt was claiming crop damage from the City. St eras decided that the City Clerk Zook up the original agreem~nt~ and work with tY~.e City Engineers City Attorneys Gass and Ruff. The Mayor stated that the Auxiliary Police would like to have permission to carry side arms. He stated that he= himself, was not in favor of this action. Chief of Police, Gaston stated that he did not feel it was necessary,, and did express his thanks to the Auxiliary Police for their help on previous occasions. After discussion, motion was made b~ Ruff and seconded by tiJilson that the Auxiliary Police be allowed to carry side arms only in case of extreme em~r~ency. I~~otion carried. mother clean-up week was discussed. Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Kaiser that a clean-up week be designated beginning October 8th through October 1?_th. Motion carried. Report of the Police Judge was presented. Motion was made by Edwards and seconded by Olson that this report be approved. Motion carrs_ed. City Engineer reported. on the problem at the Sewage Disposal Plant. City Engineer stated that we sfl~ould have some sort of act~_on the first part of next week. Letter to be written to ~ Black & Veatch engineers suggesting a meeting to hear their report. Nave and Wilson reported on Fifth Street. ~ Alder avenue was discussed. Ruff brought up the subject of the purchase of a c~zain hoist. He then made a motion that the City rent this hoist with option to buy seconded py Gass. Motion ~'arried. Motion was made and seconded that the pity engineer be given permission to order chemicals for the water plant. P~iotion carried. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel It was reported by Ruff that a, certain area on Mountain Vie~rr Lane was requesting a light pole. City Clerk ~,s to write authorization to the Power Company. Bradley reported that John Metzger states that he h.as no sewers grid wishes to have this amount deducted from his water bill. The City Clerk is to invPStigate this matter. 01son reported that the committee had met with representatives from gown Engineering regarding the repair or replacement of windows in the City Hall. He quoted a price of ~23.E~2 per window or a price of $~~.72.~.0 for the whole job. After discussion, motion was made b~ Ruff and seconded by Kaiser.tha-~ Mr. Olson contact Crown F,n.ginePring and get a price on fixing the two windows in the ~ingne~r's office and the three in the Police Station. Possibly using parts from the windows in the fire department. Motion carried. Letter was read signed by Alex Vogel stating his resignation as electrical inspector for the City of Laurel. Motion was made by Kaiser and seconded by Nave that this resignation be accepted provided that he remain until a replacement is found. Motion carried. In this connection, Earl Crow was mentioned for this fob. After discussion motion was made by Ruff anal seconded bar Kaiser that Crow be appointed as electrical inspector. Motion earri~d. Ruff asked whether ar not the lots nn West Avenue and County Road were. ~'or sale. The City Attorney stated that the City should advertise for bids for two or three ~~eeks. Potion was made btT Ru:~f and seconded by Kaiser that these lots b~; advertised for bids. Bids to be opened on November 6th Motion carried.
