A Special meeting of the City Council of the pity of Laurel, Montana, was held in the pity Clerkts office, and was called to order by P~la~Tor John Beslanwitch, at 7x30 P.M., on Fridays July 20th, 1962. upon t~.kin~ r~11 call, the following ald~rrnen answered present: Jacob Ruff Kenneth Olson Henri Kaiser Roy ~:dwards Cecil Nave H~.rold Wilson After roll call, NZayor ~eslanwiteh called upon Jake Ruff, President of the ''Council, to preside at this meting. Thy purpose of this meeting was to ~;o over the request of the de~art- ment heads' and tentatively set a mi11 levy for the taxes for the coming 1962- 1963 fiscal year. The original 1~7 mills listed on the Resolution included three mills for the Sewage Disposal. Plant Revenue fond Fund, as the one mill assessed for the last fiscal year did nc~t appear to be sufficient. It was the decision of the Council that the Levy remain at one miiZ, and that the pity Attorney pr€~pare Ordi- nance No. 558, which will be an ordinance raising the sewer charged on the water bills. Mr. Bradley stated that this could not be done at a special meeting, but suggested that the ordinance be written as an emergency ordi~~,n,ce and voted e~ at the n~~ regular meeting. The rates tirere tentatively discussed as follows, A raise of 25¢ per month for all customers on flat rate, which will raise the sewer from ~p2.11? to X2.35 per month. ~1 raise from 50j~ of the water bi71~ to 60~ of the water bi11:: was decided upon as a fair raise for metered customersw A minimum for metered and outside water users was suggested to be raised from ~$?_.50 to X2.75 per month. Bond Fund - - - - 1.0 mill Total x.7.0 mills After discussion, motir~n was made by Kaiser, and seconded by Naves that the preliminary budget of ~.7 mills stand approved. Motion carried. There being no further business to be discussed at this special eee~io at this tine, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjouran~d.
