A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel' Montane,
way held in the Council Chambers and was called to order by Mayor Jahn B~alanwitch,
at 7a3~ o~clock, P. M., on Tu~sdav, August 20~ 1963.
Upon ~alcin.~ roll calf the following aldermen s~nswered present:
Jacob Ruff Kenneth Olson Gerald L. Gass Cecil 1Vave
E. H. Ebersvill~r Eddie Leuthold Roy Edwards Wm. Palms
The minu~~s of the previous regular meeting of Augus~C b, 1963, were
read. Motion waa made by Ruff and seeond~d by Olson that the minutes b~ approved as read. Motion carried.
Thy minutes of the Speei~l. Meeting of Aug~zst 7~h, 1963, were read.
Motion was made by E'berswiller and seconded by Olson that the minutes be apprav~ed
~,s read. Motion carri~sd.
The minutes of the Second Special Meeting of August' 7th, 1963, were
read. Motion was made by Name and seconded bq Palm that the minu~Get~ b~ approved
as read. Mo~ior~ carried.

Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that the m3nut~:s be approved as read. Motion carried.
Leger was read from the City of Colu~nbus~ Georgia asking that Laurel
pays an t9rdin~ae requiring; a ~1~000.OQ license fee from Ei2'33? b115~.224,393 man de-
~iring ~c> sell cor~nunist m~rchandis~. Motion was made by Ruff end seconded by
Eberaviller that this l~t~er be placed on file. Mo~ioh carried.

The Trustees of School District No. 7 r~aquest ghat the property owned
by the School Di~tri~t lying b~tt~e~n First Avenu~~ Eighth St,,~ee~~ Pennsylvania
and East Maryland Lane be taken into the city limit.
At the same time, we request that the fire hydrants recammerided by
the Fire Underwriters ~uresu be installed. 'Pheir recommeMdations were ghat one be installed at the ~Fuin~tion of Ninth Street,: arzd First Avenue, and a second
hydrant be installed a~ the point where Colorado woald intersect Fights Street.
We ~ugges~ that the date of admittance be delayed until eighth Street
is completed by the County.

This area is already platted and meets that requirement.

taking ro11 ca11 votes all aldermen present voted "Aye" and ~~id resolution was declared passed and adopted.
Certain reports of the Gity of Laurel were presented for approval. City
Clerks Cash Report, and Treas~ar~r ~ s Report. Mption was made by Ruff arsd seconded
by Eber~viller that thes~a reports be approved. Motion ca.rri~d.
Report of the Polio Judge was presented, Motion waa made by Olson and aeeonded by Edwards that this report b~ approved. Motion carriead.
Reports of the patrolmen x~re present~d• MO'~~.4A W8S mods by Olson and
seconded by EdWardss that these reports be approved. Motion carried.
Jack Muller from Sage Engineering appeared before the Cou.ricil ~o ex- plain and discuss the advantages of a grant for advanced planning for any pre-
po~ed projects ~ontempla~ed by the City. Ag~er a good deal of discussion, the
Mayor appointed a committee to gc in~4 this mat~~r~ consisting of Ebersviller~
as Chair~aars, Leuthold and Pal~~ to study this probleac and core to the Council
Frith a recc~mmenda~ion.
Kokes appeared before the Council to stag that the chemical used in
the insect control spray program is killing his hedges at 902 Third Avenue. Mayor
and City E .3.~eer both reportEd on Jthis. If Mr. Rukes wo~.ld ear~e to pmt in a
elairn against the City, we will tern this muter over to the insurance company.
France T~'isher asked per;nis~ivn to leave the Stake before the next meeting. Motion was madE by Ruff and seconded by Leuthold that permiss3.or~ be
granted. Mot3.on carried.
The Mayor stated that Mr. Rathbun would b~ available to a,~sin be the
City Engineer for thc~ City of La~relf and he asked the Councils opinion. It
was the opinion of the Council ~ha~ this body should consider all applican~st and that if he would carp to put iri his application, it would be ~on~idered along
with the other . Olson m~d.e this in the form of a motions seconded by Palmy and
the motion carried, It was ~ugg~st~d that the City Clerk adver~is~ in the
various mun3.cipal P~iblica~ion~ that Laurel was considering a new Engineer.
It was brought to the attention of the Council ghat the D~Ro~rke prcp-

Ruff' staffed that there sho~zld be a "No Smoking" sign placed on the
outside door of the Sewage Disposal Plant.
The Mayor asked the City Engin~~r to takes care of cutting the weedy on
the City Property.
The Police Committee was in~trueted to inform the Polio to strictly
enfore~ the lf}-minute parking i~ t~mnt of the drive-in mail box on the corner of First Street and First Avenue.

Nave ~t~.ted that he had r~ceiv~d an inquirq to put the city property
where the weigh Seale used to be up for sale. H~ way informed that persons interested must ask that this property be put up for sale.
There being no further business to camp before the Council ~.t this
tim~~ motion was d~.ly~ maci~ and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion
carried.
