City Engineer m~cl.e a rEport on the new water line, at the regu~~t of the Mayor. Upon request, the City Engineer made a r~por~ on the B~a.rbage Land Fill. Discussion abort patching streets in the Third Ward. Mayor asked the Str~e~ Co~mitt~e ~o think about this, and come up ~i~h a recommendation. City Attorney reported on the final acceptance of the new S~~a~~ D po~al Plant. H~ re~ommend~d t~h~.t when sae are ready, that one part of the job be aceep~~d and paid off, and that we waif until th~? high water before making a recem~~~dation on the balance. Edwards r~parted that Y~ had an application from Robert A. Baill~t, patro]anan, to attend the Police Ac~.c~.emy at Bcs~emar~, May 12th through the 25th. ~'he PQlice ~ommitt~e recommended ~h~~ B fillet b~ gent to this Qchool. He is to take the first week an his own ~i~e, and be paid for the second week. City also t~ pay the ~~5.00 fee. Motion ~ra~ th~r~ made b~ Edwards and ~eeonded by Olson that this be allowed. Motion carried. Edwards brought up the a~abjeet of r~~w polio car. Mayor B~~lanr~iteh state that should trade every year. I~ xas duscussed that pos~ibl~ tl~e Police would. not need such a big motor. City ~l~r~ reportcd on the Police Depar~- ment fin~nc~g. 3'h~ ear hay beeen budgeted for, bit the Police do not have a~uf- fiei~~t funds. After discussion, motion way made by Ruff aid ~econde~d by R.o~e~ that this ~na~ter b~ r~~carr~d back to the Polies Committee, to investigate and report beck at the next meeting. Motion carried. Alderman Ol~e+n ~3res~~t~d twa time slips, any f~o~ Gaston, and one from Lenhardt fc~r avertim~ in the Police ?epart~ent. H~ atat~d that Fo7.i~ ars on drzt~* 2J~-hrs. per d.ay. He stat~cl ghat i~ ~(as the recommendation of the c¢~- mitt~e, howev~*r, that ~h~~e~ claims not b~ paid, d~.e to ~ shortage of funds in the Polite fund. Motion was then made by Nave and ~econdec3 by Romee that these claims be deni~,d. Motion carried. The Mayor ~ta,ted that Ald~rm~n'~ fees could be incre~aaed from 12.0 per meting to ~]1.~..C?0 per meeting for two meetings per month. He also ~t~.t~d that Mayc>rTs salary could be increased from ~1~~~O.f70 pesr ye sr to ~1~700.~~ per year. As the ald~rm~n are now r~sceiving ~1~.~0 per meeti.r~g, and the ~ayoz~ ree~iv3.ng ~1,25~.0~ per year, after d3~cua•~ion emotion eras made by Ro~nee and ~econeled by Olsmn that Aldermen fees be raised to ~1.2.~0 per meeting, and Mayor~~ salary be rai~~d to ~1'S00.0~ per year, which is Mill not the ma~ci~num. Motion parried with Alderman Ruff voting ~r~prt. This raise to take effect July 1' 1963. Motion e~x~ied. Ruff stated that the Park Committee would like approv~.l of the Council to st~r~ ~rorking in the Parl~~ i~nmediately~ aaad ~o incr~as~ our help. He ~~ated that the Swimming Pool filt~r~ should be gent ire for craning. Ruff repart~d that there way ~~ill ~1~0.00 owe from the Rifle Climb on their insurance policy, ar~d that the policy which runs for afive-year period would be eo~ing up again this year. I~ was suggested that the City Clerk writs a letter to this club informing them of this feet, and st~.t3.ng ghat the pr~miu~n s~.ould be paid by April 15th, or the lease wowld be cancelled as of May 1, 1963.
