Mr. John Daley, City Eng3ne~r~ Mr. J. J. Parker, Recreation Director' and Mr. Richard Smith, Pool Manager, were seen. When S~e~n,, the pool was cleans clear and appeared to be w~7.1 maintained.. It was reparted, however that there has been some difficulty in keeping; the pool in t~.is condition. Reportedly a major part of the problem s-~ems from the inh~.b- il.ity to gaerate the r~eircalation, filtering and chlorination- systems on a contin- uous 21t-hour per day basis. The pre~sur~ sand filter requires backwashing several Mmes daily ar~i thus c~nnat be allowed t~ operate without supervision during the night. Pool pH was 7,~. on this date and chlorine residual was 0.3 ppm. Both are satisfiactor3~ readings. The pool manager has a difficult time holding the pH in the desired. rage of 7.1~-f3.~. Soda ash is p~ric~dically hand fed. around the pool p~r3.meter. Them is an old slurry mixer and metal tank located in the filter equipment room. Very ~.ikely, for a small e~~t the oft tank could be ~~paired and a new slurry deed pump purchased t~ force feed soda a.sh can a eon~inuous basis. This would help control the pH problem. Re ecs~run~ndations 1. During this winter, dismantle the filter and check all the elem~n~s. Replace thus which cannot be properly elean~d. Next swi.mining sea- son this unit should be capable of running continuously 21t-hours per day. 2. Obtain the necessary electrical equipment to tip chlorinator opera- tion t~ filter pump operation. 3. Ei.thEr repair existing equipment or obtain new equipment far feeding soda ash continuously for pH adjustment.
