Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
.Tanuary 5, 1965
A regular meeting of the pity Council of the City of laurel, Montana
was held in the Council Chambers and was called to order by M~.yor John B~slan- w3.tch at 7:30 o~cloek, I'. M., on Tuesday, ~r~u~y 5, 1965.
Upon taking roll calls the following aldermen answered prevent:
Jacob Fluff E. H. Eber~viller, Sr. Ed L~uthold K~nn~th Olson
Cecil Nave Roy Edwards Gerald L. Gasp
The minutes of the previous meting ~~re read. Motion lass made by Eb-
ersviller and seconded by Olson that th:~ minutes be apnrov~ed as read. Motion
aarri~d.
Utter was read from Janke & smithy Accountants, in Billing, giving a
price of ~~C10.~0 for an audit of the City of Laurel 3~or the fiscal year ending
June 3~, 19EE~ltt. Bradley reported an this, and ~t~ted that Kalman & Company will
accept a ~inlplified report such as our former account Ray L~.thom way accustomed
to sending. It way the d~ci~ion of the Council that the City Clerk contact the
local firm of Hilly Frank and Crow, and ask that they make such an audit as soon as possibly.
Certa3.n reports of the City of Laurel were presented for approval as
follows Health afficerts Report for December, and the ~,ibrary Report. Motion
was made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that these reports be approved. Motion
earr3ed.
Report of the Poliae Judge was presented. Motion was made by Edwards
and s~:conded b~ Olson that this report be approved. Motion carried.
Reports of the Patrolmen were presented. Motion was mete by Ebersvil-
ler and s~;conded by Olson that these reports be~approv~d. Motion carried.
Claims for the month of December wEre presented for approval a~ follows:

Motion was made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that the c1~.3~s Be allowed. Nation
carried.
The Maur asked for a report from the eom~.ttee on a ~~gular for the
S~wag~ Dispn5al Plant. Edwards reported that the man from Helena who was 'Go ha~re some irafc>rmation nn this matter had not as yet comp to Laurel.
Mayor asked Ruff for a report on hip meeting at Ael@na. Ruff reported
that the bill. to be presented ~o~rning salaries had been am~:nded slightly.
Chris Fletcher, Representing the Montana State Highway Commis~ion~ ap- pear~d before the Council with an offer of ,~3,6].~.00 tca ~h~ City of Laurel for a
portion of th+~ South Park which is to be used as a part of the new interstate
highway. Thy highway to go through the park, and the City to keep the remainder.
The Mayor suggested turning this matter over to the Park Comm3.tte~. Mr. Fletch-
er Mated he would like to knora whin he ceuld meet with the Park Com~aait~t~~ in
order to get a decision at the next Council meeting. The Park Committee to come
back with a recommendation to the Council ~.t the next meting.
Dave Powers, m~mb~:r of the Airport Commission, appeared b~;for~ the
Counci3. with several other ind3.vidual~ regarding extensive iYaprovements at the
A~.rpos°t. He resported that the Intc~rmount~.in Air Cr~~f't~ Sa1.es and ~~rvic~ ~o~ld
like to build a commercial building a-G the ~.3.rport and had given their check of
good faith in the amount of ~S~O.OC?. Whey would also build 20 T hangars. Sev- ~ral obstacles ~.ppear which should be solved first. Primary canrern is a bet-
ter runway, a 15 to 20 year lease on the land, and more property. The main
building to be a steel building costing approximately ~$25,~000.00, and 20 T hangars
to be $t~el. City Attorney to find out whither or not a 99-year ea~em~nt would
b~ possible from the State. It was the recomr~ndation of the Airpor~ Commission
that plans be started as soon as possible. Committee consisting of Ebersv3.ller, Leuthold and Ruff.
Eber~vill~r stated that h~ had no report at present on the heal.~h

tise for bids. Olson made the emotion, ~eeond~d by Nerve that this be dons. Mo-
tion carried.
