A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurels Montana
was held in the CQUncil Chambers and was called to order by Mayor John Beslan-
witch at 7:30 0 ~ clock, M. ~ on Tuesday, August I~, 1961..
Upon taking ro1.1 call, the following aldermen answered present:
William J. Palm Jacob Ruff Eddie I,euthold
Kenneth. 01son Cecil Nave Roy Edwards
The ~3.nutES of the regular meeting of July 21st were read. Motion
way made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that the minutes be approved ~s read. Motion carried.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of July 23rd were read. Motion
was made by 1Vave and seeand~;d by Olsan that the minutes be approved ~,5 read.
Motion carried.
C~:rtain reports of the City of Laurel, Montana, were presented for
approval, as follows: Library Report and H~a].th Offic~r~s Regort. Motion was made by Olson and seconded that these reports be approved. Motion earri~d.
Reports of the Patrolmen and the Police Judge were presented for ap-
proval! Motion was mace by ~lsvn anc1 secor~i~d by Edwards that these reports
be approved, Motion carried.

With the exception of two claims to Industries]. Equipment for I ghtnin~ damage motion w~ made by Raiff and secondffid by Falm that tY~e Maims be allowed. Mo-
tion carried.
The Ma~~ stated ghat he would like °to suggest that Peter D. Thomson
be given a raise in his ear rental allow~,n~~, since he works almost every day
with no pay in connection with the Parr and the C~~ete;ry. It was the reeom- menda,~i~n o~ the Park Committee that this rental allowance be raised from ~l~~.0~
to ~7~.00 peg month. After discussions motion was made by dlson, seconded by
Nave that the Park Committee°s recommendation be accepted. Motion carried.

St was suggested that the City Clerk write to the Cemetery Associat3.on~ advi~-
ing them of the increase ~.n ear rent~.l allowance for Mr. Thom~on~ so that it could be incorporated in the minutes.
City Er~ineer was ask~:d for a report on the ~r~.ter line under the High-
way~ and he stated ~ha~ work on this would begin the morning of August 5th 19611.
There are letters on file i~ his ~iffiee authorizing him to go ahead with this
work.
The Mayor asked the aldermen for reports on some of the Ordinance vio-
lations i.M their wards concerning low hanging branches, hedges, garbage problems
weds, and so forth. Several aldermen reported on the situations in their ward,
but stated that their survey was not yet complete.
City attorney was asked for a report on the revising of the lie~:nse
Ordinance. H~, reported on this, but statEd that sev~ra~l inquires had been sent
out, but that nothing had been decided as yet.

Regarding thc~ problem Q~ both access roads to the south side being
blocked at the same tine, Palm stated that th~r~ way now a bulletin on the bul- ~.~tin board ~.~k3ng that one of these acee~~ roads be kept open at all times.
'The City Engineer reported that one of the N. P. Street Lights was
not in use any loner, and the Ci~Gy Clerk was instructed to take this assess-
ment off the t~c~~ of the N. P. Railway Go.
There being no ftarther business to come before the Council at this
time,, oration eras duly made and seconded that the meeting be ad~ournr~d. Motion
carried.
