Subject: Resignation from the Police Commission
Dear Mayor Eaton,
I am tending my resignation from the Police Commission as I have been appointed
as an Alderman for the 4th Ward and have been told that I am barred from holding
both positions.
I appreciate the appointment by Mayor Nelson but am somewhat sorry that no
meetings were held and that 1 was not able to meet the other two members of
that Commission. I still feel strongly that a member of the police commission,
whether on the City Council or a civilian, should have a law enforcement
background as civilian members can not comprehend the adverse situations
which officers face in performing their duties.
