The Minutes of the previous m~e~ing were read. Motion was made by
Ruff and seconded by Olson tha°~ the minutes be approved ~,s read. Motion car-

In Regard to city property fire ins. bid.
Gentlemen:
In a~ mush as specifications for bid on fire premium of various city building
property on individual building bads, and item 12 not assi~n~d a rats by Mont-
ana Fire Bureau--the WESTERN CASUALTY AND SURETY ~QMPANY submit a bid thru Porter Insurance Agency Inc. of Laurel, Montana, of 1~~ deviation off Montana
Fire Bureau rates ~'or all specified bnil.dings at issue. The we~tarn Casualty
and Surety Co. of Ft. Scott, Kansas is rated ~.s A+ AAAAA in Bests current ins-
uranee co. rating guide book.
The City of Laurel could effect still greater savings on premium rate, if all buildings be submitted under blanltet rate a~ specified by Montana Firs Bureau,
and then Znsur3nce company could bid for city business under new Public Tnsti-
tutional policy form. Do not believe Montana Bureau has established a blanl~et
rate, City ~f Laurel property; but if se-tia~ould appreciate more time to get it
from them and in turn submit bid under public institution~t policy form.

The Mayor then declared a fifteen minute rec~~s so that the ~ouneil could study
these bids. After studying the bids M~~~on was made by Ruff and seconded by
Olson that this matter be referred to the Insurance Committee for further, and
come back with a reconanendation. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report was presented for approval. Lotion was made by Ruff and seconded by Olson that this report be approved. Motion carried.
Police J~.dge Report was presented for approval. Motion was made by
~lson ar~d s~;cond.ed by Gasp that this report b~ approved. Motion carried.
An application for work was presented. Motion was made by Ruff and

Mayor brought up Radar. 1t seems the Highway Patrol i5 willing to help the Police Department catch speeders by l~±~ting them use their radar.
There was some discussion. Signs mould have to be put up stating that we
were using radar. The old speed limit sins and the l.ocation.of them were
d3.~cussed. This matter turned over to the Police Committee.
A raise for the Engineer was brought up. After discussion, it was turned over to the Negotiating Committee. They are to report on this ~.t
the next meeting.
Lie~nse ruling was duscussed. Engineer to look into this.
Ruff reported on what took place at the Montana Municipal Meeting at Helena, Montana.
Leuthold brought up ~,hc~ streets in the 3rd Ward. Olson and ~euthold
to meet and get petitions s-~arted in this ward.

Leuthold r~:port~d that there had begin several complaints about chaff
from the Peavey Elevator b~3ng on the sidewalks. They h~.ve begin told about
this before. ~~~~on was made by I~euthold and seconded by Olson that the City
Clerk write them a letter regarding this matter, and ask that they cooperate.
Motion carried.
The new highway was brought up and the congestion we will have if
all of the traffic comes Winder the under pays. It way suggested that we
route the traff3.c from Mops fain through Main Street instead of under the
under pays, until the highway is completed further. The water main under
the highway was discussed.
Olson brought up the badge for the Aux3lary Police. It was decided
that we are .to se11 them to the Auxilary Police for 50 cents apiece.
Ruff b~?ought up Pa~~ mound behind Fred Graff School that was not
yet 3.n the City Limits. Some discussion. 4~otion was made by Ruff and seconded
by Olson that this land be brought into the City Limits,: Motion carried. It was also suggested that the City Clerk write a letter to the School District
asking that they bring ground North of Fred Graff school into the City Limits
as it w,i.ll be surrounded by ground ghat is already in the City Limits.
Water line on Fighth Avenue was discussed.
Palm brought up the Centennial Train. It Seems it gill onlg be on
display in Laurel from 8 P. M. to 2 P. M. and w~ had asked for one whole day.
A letter is to be written to the Govenor and a telegram sent to Mr. Howard
Kelsey, Cha3.rman of Centennial.Train Committees protesting, and asking for
the one whole day that we were scheduled for. Billings will have the train
for three days.
Tom Bradley is to draw up a revised t3rd~.aa~zce canc~rning displays
of merchandise on the sidewalk during centennial Week, and have it with him

There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion
carried.
