HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 12.06.1966Minutes of the City Council of Laurel December 6, i96E~ A regular meeting of the City Council of the City off' Laurel, Montana, was held. in the Council G'~ambers and way called -~o order by Mayor John Beslanwitch at 7s30 o'clock P.M., on Tuesdays December 6, 1966. Upon taking ro11 call, the following Aldermen answered present. Kenneth Olson Gerald Gass Roy Edward$ Richard Blacl~ Walter Parker Louis Yovetich Henry Kaiser Thc~ minutes of tt1~ p~°evious meeting of November 1~, 1966 were read. A correction was sug~est~d. Previous mi.nute~ stated that "Rudy Senn ~toulcl be interested in owning the building" corrected to read "Rudy Senn would be interested in purchasing the gara e building". After this correction, motion was made by Black and seconded by Kaiser that the minutes be approved. Motion carried. Certain reports of the City of Laurel were presented as follows: City Clerks Trial Balance, Clerkts Cash Report, Lik~rary Report, Reports of three patrolmen, and Report of the Police Judge. Motion was made by Olson. and ~econc~ed by Edwards that the police reports be apx~roved. Mot3.on carried. Motion was made by Gass and seconded by ~31ack that the other reports be approved. Motion carried. There was di~cus~ion on procedures to follow regarding ~h~ ~xelusion of certain property from the City l.imi~s. In phis connection Resolution No. 1308 w~~.s presented. Motion carried. Black reported on the electrical inspections, and that Les Stoltz had been appointed as district inspector far this area. He then read an article from the Billings Gazette. He also reported on a meeting held at the Oral Cafe with Mr. Sh.irl~y from Billings. The Mayer commended the ~lectric~~l and Plumbing Board for the good. work done to date. Edwards reported nn certain lots in the Russell. Subdivision which Mrs. Russell desires to donate to thc~ City. Edwards th€~n recommended that thy; City aee~p~ these lots, from Mrs. Russell. Motion was made by Black and seconded by Gass that the Park Committ~e~s recornmsndatian be aecept~d. Motion carried. A litter was read fresm Mr. Morledge as follows:. Mr. Joy Bailey, President U. S. Natianal Bank Red Lo~.gP, Montana Dear Joy: Mr. Roy Edw~rd~ of Laurel, Montana, has contacted m€~ re~ardin~ the progosPd purchase by the City of Laurel of some lots involved in the Brastrup e~tat~, namely, Lots 1~., 1.~ and 1.6 in Bloek 2 of Russell Subdivision. I believe that yQU may hold the mortgage on these lots. The City is interested in ~.equirin~ these lots because it is my understanding th~±y main the city park. However, their prime interest is in gett~.ng them cleaned up as they canstitute a fire hazard and sanitation problem in their present condition.. Sf they can purchase the property at a reasonable ~riee they would be willing to assume the responsibility of getting them el~~,ned up. Morledge, Jr. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel The Mayor asked that Mr. Edwards ca11 or contact Mr. Bailey r~~ard~ng these lots. Gass reported on a drainage problem. This matter waC referred to the Park committee and the Street & A1.ley commit'EEE to work on a property situation on the South Side. T?aley reported on the Fifth Avenue drain. Yovetich reported that Catherine Michunavieh way ag;~reeabl~ to having a sale of license plates in Laurel for tiro days a week dus°ing the month of January. Yove-~ich and ~31aek are to get in touch. with the County Comm3.ssioners as soon as possible. The Niayar a~~€ed about the Grant for Riverside Park. Daley reported on this. Black reported on a City County Planning Board meeting, and stated that there had been some plats approved outside the City ~,imits. There was discussion regarding trailer houses. Parker reported on certain stop signs on Fourth. Avenue and Fifth Streets and requested a four wad stop sign. Other aldermen were of the opinion that the address sc~uld be Fourth 5tr~~t~,nd Fifth Avenue. After discussion, this matter was referred to the POZICE Committee for investigation. Yovetich reported on the Neighborhood Youth Program for the summer. He also reported that there was alwa~r~ a pool off' standing water in back of the De Carlo Service Station.
