Thy following Aldermen answered present: C~ra1d Gass Rohr Edwards Donald Bradford Walter Parker Richard Bla ek Louis Yovetich Henry Kaiser The minutes of the previous regular meeti~~ of l~ovember 1 were read. Motion was made by Parker and seconded by Gass that the minutes be approved. Motion carried. The following reports w€~r~ presented for approval.; City Cl~rk~~ Ca.~h Report, ~lark~s Trial Balance, and City 'Trea~urer~s Financial Statement. Thy motion way made by Black and seconded by Kamer that th~s~ reports b~ approved. Motion carried. A Report from the County ~~nitarian, W111iam Reinhart, way read. Motion was made by Black and seconded b~ Kaiser that this report b~ accepted. Motion carried. The City Health Officeres report was presented for approval. Motion way made by brass and ~eeanded by Black ghat this report be approved. Motion carried. Motion carried. Gays reported that he had met with the Farmers Union Central Exehang~ about the vacation of certain properties. He stated that the Refinery ~ri11 pay the 1966 taxes, and that f'~iture tax~;~ b~ waived. Aft€r discussion, Black made that motion that the City Attorney be authorized to gfl ahead with the legal, work to vacat this praper-~y. Gass seconded the oration and the motion carried. D~1ey reported that the drain on nth Avenue wi11 be completed when the ground thaw . Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Yovetich reported that he did not have a chance to meet with the Counter ~o~ni~sionar aid Count~• Treasurer about the sale of li~en~e plat, in Laurel. He suggested that the City ftarnish the ~see~ssary office equipment and that either the Council Cha~b~rs or the Water Office c4u1d be used for the sale of the plates. Edwards reported that the matter of the City ptarchasing 1~.nd on the Sat~th Side was Mill pending. H~ staged that the building on the property might have t4 be declared a fire haz~.rd. Gass added ghat Mr. Rudy ~erua i~ very inte~est~d in p~az~eh~~3.ng the garages if ~h~ City decides too pureh~.se the land, The con~mitte~ will keep working on this pro3ect. The City Clerk reported that the petitions for a new water reservoir were all returned and z~he was Mare that them would be the r~quir~d niunb~r of ai~atUres. Bradford ~xiade t>he ~oti~n that the people who worked 0~a this proj~et be sent a litter of thanks from the Mater and Council. G~~s seconded the emotion and the motion carried. The ~Iayar stated that he would like to ~~e another ambulance ~ervic~ ire I,surel, either privately owned or owned b~ the City. A letter was read from Mr. Howard Farley, ~ecc~uom~nding Richard Ta~rlor, who owns an ambulance service in Billing. Ater much discussion, the Magor appointed Black to meet with the Firemen about taking on the responsibility of this service. Yovetich reported that the Cc~nmunity Action pro~am is sponsoring a 19 ~res~t ~t~mer program for h3.gh school s-~ud~nts, ar~d ~ug~ested the City participate in this program. Daley added that the students working now are doing a gmod job. He a]~~°~tated that he wou3~d like to have the emllege students who worked for the City last summer Lander the Financial Aid Program ~rork again this ~u~nmer, and that their be entitled to a raise up to $1.75 an hour over new student employed. Af~,er di~cua~io~, Yoeetich made the motion ghat the G3.ty participate in the Neighborhood Youth CropQ and the Financial Aid Program. Kaiser seco~.ded the ~o~3on and the motion carried. Black reported that them would bE an Elee~rical and Pltzmbir~; Board me~sting November 16 at this fh~rl Cafe. Dia~C Metzler was authorized to attend the school for Water Plant and Sewage T)isposal Plant personnel along with Daley and Ken Beven. Roy Edwaxds reported that the stop signs on both sides of 1st Avenue ~n 3rd lath, and 5th str~;et~ are too low. This matter was turned mver to the City Engineer to see th~.t their are rai~~d. Bradford repar~ted that lie would 2i.ke to gene the City ptzreha~e more land in the ns~rth end of tcna~ for future use a~ a park.
