Motion wa.~ made by Bradford and seeond~d by Edwards th.~.t this report be approved. Motion carried. Reports of the P~.trolmen were presented. Mot3.on carried. A letter was read from the Farmers Unian Central Exchange r~que~ting the vacation of e~rtain p~operti~s, and t~iat 196~i t~x~s b~ refurid~d, and that further City tars be waived. After discussion, the May'ar ~ta~ed that he would appoint a committee to investigate this matters ~.nd to report back at thy, next m~~t3.ng. Z'h~ Mayor thin appointed Gass a~ ch~irinan~ Don Bradford and Roy Edwards. ~inee Yovs~tieh did not b~liev~ that h~ co~al.d het back to the me~tin~, ha asked that the City Clerk bring several items b~for~ the Council.. He stated that h~ way pleased that the drain on Fifth Avenue way b~3ng taken e~.rc~ of. pity Engineer reported on thi$ a1so~ stating that the culvert should b~ cleaned before the pips was inst~.lled. Yov~tich also stated that h~ had had several ~.nq~airieg to the possibility of hazTing some cozarity employees station~;d at Laurel for a shoat period of time for the sai~ o~ licenses plat~s~ since the r~sident~ here in I~atare'1 rust tike time off to go to Billings for the pureha~e of the plates. Th3.s his been tried before vnsuecess,fully~ but the Mayor appointed a ec>mm3.~t~e of tiro, Yov~tieh and Black to meet with the Commi~~ion~rs and 'Go try it again. Yovet3ch also e~ressed a desire that the ~~no passing" double Line that ends at Tubmant~ storey and b~gin~ again at Toby1s Bar to th.e e~.s~, be extended from `Tubman~s to Tob~~s. He Mates that them have been sev~r~l. accidents along this stretch that could possibly b~ el3.minated. This matter was turned over to Daley to meet with the Highway' Department. Several daces on ~h~ South Side w~*re mentioned as eye sore . This problem wa.s referred to the City Engineer and Aldermen from the Second Ward. Black inquired as to the legal ~tatu~ of the C3.~y of La~ax~el regarding the A. D. E. Fund. Bradley reported that there was a t~s~ suit being held at this t3.~e . Black inquired about the ~l~etrical 3.n~pection ~ t~at3.an. Bradley repearted on this. ~inc~ Alderm~ Parker was absent, and after much d3~cuss.on, mot~.on was made by Black and seconded by Gays that the committee talk to the distr~.et to be sure that we have our own inspector appo3.nt~d. Moti.an carried. ~dward~ reported that the olc~ North uehool has been d~si~;ned as a Civil D~fen~~ Shelter. The t~ivil Defense officials have asked that the City purehas~ a portable ~~nerator. Edwards states th~.t one can be purehas~ci for ~17~.~0 plus install~.tion, and states that he has had Alex Rober~us 3.nspec~ thi.~ generator. The Yellowstone County Civil Defense Committee is :Eurni~hing 1~.-day rations for 300 persons, and he reeomm~nded that this gener~.tor be purchased. After discussion, motion ws.s made by Cues and seconded by Bl~,ek that th3.r mater be turned back ~o thy, co~unitt~e with authority to aat. Motion carried. G~.ss reported that he had noticed that on ~"i£~h Street there is a lot of curb and gutter work going on. H~ made a motion that the Council go on record as commending those who are do3.ng this work b~fpre~ the January 1st d~:~dlin~, and to inform thas~ who are not ~oin~ the work th~.t plans are still being made to ~o ahead with ~.Speeial Improvement Di~~riet, if necessary. Seconded by Bradford. Motion carried. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Bradford reported on a Federal Aid l~anuai b~~n~ ~.dvert3sed in t he Mantana Municipal League monthly pamphlet at a eo~t of X20.00 per ~~ar. Mayor Mated that he had several. of th~s~ manuals and that h~ would bring them to the City Ha11. Re~olut3.on No. 13 7 ~~g presented, extending the G ty Limits to inelude~ all of Bloak 9 in Laurmac S~zbdiv3.sion. Motion was duly made and ~~;conded that Resolution No. 1307 be passed ~d ~.dopted. Bradley stated th~-~ they must be and plans are going forward to have this done. City Clerk will get the petitions ready. Daley reported that h~ needy pipe for the water d~partme.nt. Motion was made by Gasp and seconded by Black that the City ~ngine~r be authorised to advertise for bids for this pipe. Motion carried. Daley reported that th~r~ w~.~l be a school for Water Plant d Sewage Di~pogal P1.ant personnel, and asked that Kin B~4en ~.nd h~ be authorized ~o attend. He stated that there would bc~ three from the Refinery also. Motion was made by Gasp and seconded by Bradford that Beven and Daley b~± allowed ~o a~t~nd anel that the ~].O.On r~gi~tration fee be paid. by the City. Motion e~rri~d. Daly reported on the sidewalk, curb and gutter on first .venue. Ha states that the 6C~+ of AlEx Henryts will have to come out. After discussion, it w~.~ decided that the City would offer tca remove the old curb, butter and sidewalk, if iN,r. Henry would agree to put in a new one. Also the City is to assume approximately ~2~ of the cost of the entire project.
