A regul~.r meting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana,
eras held in the Council chambers and way called to order by Mayor Jahn BeslaMwitch
at 7s~~ a~~io~~, F.M., on T~a.~~day, ~~~temb~r 2~~ 1966.

The minutes of the previous meet3rs~ wire read. Motion was made by Black and seconded by PaxrkQr that the minutes b~ approved a~ r~~.d. Motion
~arri~d.
City-County Planning Finds were di~cuss~cl.. The City is not budgeted
for funds that can be used for participation in an over-all pity-County Plan.
AFt~r diseus~ion, emotion was made b~* Black and s~cond~d by Bradford that the Council go on record as being Frilling to declare an ~mergene~ budget for T,~.ur~lts
share in this program. Motion Qarri~d.
Certain r~port~ of the City wire presented a~ follows
City C1erk~~ e~sh report, City C1~rk~~ trial ~alanee, ~it~r Clerk~a revenue ane
budget report, ~.nd pity Tr~a~urer~s finanei~,Z report. Motion waa made by
Kaiser and ~eeonded by ~~.ss ghat these reports be approved. Motion carried.
David Murray appeared before the Council to regu~st that Block 9 of
L~urmac Subdivision be brought into the City Limits. Motion w~~ made by Black
ar~d ~~conded by Bradfore3 ghat a re~olutior~ o.~ Intention to ~xt~nd the ~Ci~y
Limits b~ written up and published. Motion c~.rried.
Parlor requested that yes S~Golta , the ~l~atri~al Inspector, be paid
his ~xp~ns~a to attend a meting regardir~ electrical cedes in Helena. It~
was su~~~sted that Parlor try to make arr~nge~me~t~ to attend. Motion was th¢n
made by Black and ~econd~d by Kai~~r that the two min be allowed to attend.
Motion carried.
Brm~dfcard reported that h~ had inq~ir~d into the cost of an air
conditioner for the Police Department and had found th~.t Bathurst of the Laurel
Radio Shop has one for gale that is used bar h~.sn~elf, ~.nd that he would sell
with new condit~.oner a 5-year guarantee and that he would sill 3.t for 1~Q.00
Motion was made by Parker and ~~conded by Black that th3~ matter be referred to the Police Co~nitt~~ with authority to act. Motion carried.
Bradford brought up the subject of the three ~r~lkie-t~1k at ~7,~.00
each. He stated that these should b~ purchased by and paid for from the ~.vil
~~fen~e fund, since this 3s ~h~; account where ths~e were budg~t~d for. ~;dwards
~~~~ed that h~ did not kno~r about this budget from the C~.vil D~fen~e fund ~.nd
wa$ not 3.n favor o~ it, bit that it should comp from the Police fund. Aft~,r discussion, motion was madg by Parker ~.nd seconded by Blaele that these w~lki~-
talki~~ b~ pvxcha~ed, anc~. paid for from the civil Defense Fund. Motion carried,
with Edwards vo~3.ng ~~no. s'
Lloyd Shay appeared before the council in re~~rd to aub-leasing the
log cabin in Firem~n~~ Park to ~r~rtes int~r~st~.d in bringing a new radio station into L~.urel. The R~. P. has indicated ghat it will draw up the papers for tha ~ub-
lease, at a minirnurn lase cost of ~2~f?.~~ per ye~.r. The Council will go a1on~;
with thi~~ provided that the sub-lease dae~ not include all the park, but only
the building. Motion was then made by Parlor and seconded by Black that this
matter b~ turned over to the Park Co~nittee•to work with the Chamber o~ Comm~ree
and the City Attorn~±y, with authority to act. Motion carried.
Merritt ~~Filliams appeared before the Cot~.ncil to ask that ~ome~hing be dons an the corner of Second Str~~t to alleviate the water problem when Laurel
has a heavy rain. Aft~:r diseu~sion, this matter wi11 bE turned over to the
City Engineer on his return from vaeatic~n. A dip was di~cus~ed, and also lowering
the crown of the street.
There being no further bu~ine~s to come before the Co~znail~ motion ws~ duly made and seconded that the meeting be ad~ourn~d, and Black and Gass wesnt
to Billings to attend a meting. Motion carried.
