A Mr. Cieorg~ fox, along with hi.~ s~ttorn~y Mr. Jerry Ghrist~an appeared before the council reg~.rdin~ his ditch problem. ina~ the N.P. railway, the State NighW~y and the City of Laurel are involv¢d there was mue'~ disc~a.ss3.mn. Yovetich su~~ested that he talk tm N. P. officials, and that the3.r nor .i.tt~e continue to work on this matter. Representatives from the Junior Chamber of Co~cn~rce appeared be.for~ the council to ask ghat the City~~ Riverside ~i~Zl b~ 1ea~~d to them on the game ba~ia as the buildings leased tv the Legion and Rod & Gtln Club. The Mayor thin referred this matter to the Park co~mitte~, end ~.ppoin~ed Yovetich to serer on this ea i~tee temporarily in the absence of alderman RufF. Fred Feuerb~.eher appeared before the e4unc l to stag that the Park needs ffiood deal of work dons, and that the one man Working there n~~d~ ~o~e help. After mush disc~.ssion, motion was made by Black and seconded by Olaon that this be turned over to the Park Committee and the pity Engineer with authority to act. Motion carried. Yovetich r~parted on a cer-~ain south si~~ cro~~ing, and a£t~r discussion a~ to a stop sign, emotion ~ra~ made by P~.rlcer and seconded by Bradford that this m~.tter be turned over to the Po1ic~ Cc~mittee with authority to act.. Motion carried. Yov~ti~h stated that Ra3.lro~d. Avenue i~ caving in. After di~uc~~ion this matter way turned over to the C3.ty Engineer to eoMtact the I3i~hway Depart- ment, Yov~tich suggested that the ~iighway b~ asked to put up a ri~h~-of way fence to protect persons from our ma.n mac3~: Zak , off railroad str~~t Wiest and youth. Olson reported that them had been a leaf of preliminary work dons With the thought in mind of making this ~roun~ a recr~ation~.l facility. H~ ~tat~d that he had been in contac'~ with the Highway Department, the Fish & ~am~ CommiS~ion and the Qontractor who has the property. Yovetich Mated ghat in his opinion this place way not suitable for this hype of facility. Yoveti~h stated that h~ would like to have the: ordir~ane~ requirirt~ ~0-inch footings for new buildin~~ to be repealed. Olson reported on this. Yovetich stated ghat he would. like to have a committee placed on this situation to chan~~ the builci.ing code. Olson and Braadfc~rd on this ~ommitte~. ~~1~~ reported on the street sweeper. H~ also r~port~d that W~.~G~on was bae~ ~?=:~~ca~~. Yovetich stated. that Daley should be eonun~nded oM the ,fob of cleaning the ditch . Parker reported a meeting of the Pltambing Advisory Board on Tlzrusday. Black reported that the Post ~~~i~e Department wants to move ~h~ snorkel box from its present position tta the ~a~t side of the alley by the Laurel Chztlc~ok. Motion way made by pl~on and seeond~d by Brm.dford that this peranission be granted. Motion carried. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel ~1sA~ reported that the city e~plo;~e~s had asked for a meeting end ~ha~ megtin~ had been held last Friday. They mould like to negotiate for a cost-mf-living raise. Olson Mated that he would like to have a council. opinion to inter into nego~iation~, or tc~ slick to the two year negotiations. die stated that the employees are asking a iC~¢ per hour rare. Bradford r~q~e~ted that ~c~m~ of the ald~rme~ appear at River~icie Park for the meeting to be held on the Midland Empire P'air~ro~ands situation. There being no further bu~ir~e~s to come before the counc3.1 ~t this tim~~ mo°~ion was duly made ~tnd seconded that the meeting be ad3ourned.
